Oh man..... I really don't need or can afford to buy a new kit right now, but this one calls my name. I saw some mixed photos of this kit, and also the real deal with different markings/paint.There was one with the DHL, logo colors, etc. I HAVE TO DO THIS KIT. They just look so right to me. Any of you guys know if this a static kit or are there some detail parts? Particularly an engine? Thanks I must admit I am totally in the dark about these and the series they ran, tougher transition than I thought from drums to models again.

Bill, here is a video review. I have one of these kits I would be willing to trade if you are interested. JC I might be up for that BUT, and its a biggie, what do I have that you may be interested in? I have the Testors Charlie Kemp Mustang, I have the Monogram Mustang GTP car, I also have the Motorcraft "Zaks Speed" car (wasn't sure how to describe it). I have one of the resin Roush Tommy Kendall 1997 ALL Sport Trans Am conversion kits with the goodies.. Body looks pretty familiar and good to me and the donor car to go with it. Let me know I am sure I have other things, I just haven't checked over my inventory lately.

WOW it's been a really BUSY past few days since I last posted. I DID find a CRUZE model kit at a reasonable price. Then on a whim I wrote to ZOOM ON the designers and makers of the trans kit and pretty much begged them to see if they were still making these ( the original ad stated limited run of 50 ) thinking what the heck, I could give it a shot. S i am sitting here about a half an hour ago wondering WHY I am still up falling asleep at this screen. I noticed i had a new email and it was from Zoom ON they told me if I still wanted the trans kit they had one left they would sell me original cost free shipping!!!!. For once in my life I finally got lucky I hate to do this but, it will have to wait until I finish up a couple projects first. pretty stoked about this.

www.zoomonmodel.com/z012 Package came today THIS is going to be a fun project but until I figure out what I am doing wrong with my camera (Nikon quik-pix 26) Im afraid there will be NO documentation of this build or any others. All I can say about the trans-kit is WOW!! I never knew you could cast resin so thin and free of air bubbles.

so like i said I received the trans kit package, I am NOT very familiar with it but, it seems like a 3D printer may have been used on some of the components. all I know is this... for a 1.9 liter turbocharged engine, it sure sounds sweet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aJ29YDXjcs

Thanks for the heads up JC but I think I am going to stay with the DHL markings, they are the thing that attracted me to this kit in the first place. They (Zoom On) sent me an additional set of decals also, for the PULSAT car.

I painted my FISHER Chaparral 4 days ago and in the meantime thought I would start this to keep me active. Sooo many wonderful things I can say about this trans kit so far. Except for one......The rear "bumper clip". When it came in the mail (like I mentioned earlier here above ONE part came in primer) I thought it odd the bumper was in primer but they kinda scratched together for me a complete trans kit, I mean everything. They also threw in different markings for another Cruze if I was interested. So I sat down yesterday and started on this it has been played over and over in my head since I purchased everything and I was ready to go. I cut the front clip off slowly, carefully from the model itself according to the "drawing" they provided. It worked like a charm with many thanks to JC's hot tip on the mechanical pencil etcher. I did the lower kick panels and also cut out the rear wheel openings with my handy battery powered Dremel and large sanding cylinders doing the deed again using the now VERY vague drawing and NO diagram at all where to cut. (templates would have been sooo handy here as they are used for everything else). Now I am faced with a really BIG fabricating problem. There is absolutely no clue as to what to do with the rear bumper as far as cutting from the model let alone HOW on GODS green earth to get the trans kit section to fit properly. This is going to take some imaginative fabrication and filler to mate these 2 parts up. I went to the web site and downloaded photos of their finished product. All 6 photos I have look rough around that area, something tells me "we had a problem with our casting here" I am contemplating softening the resin section with boiling water and taking it from there. Where they WANT you to attach the the bumper to the the new wheel well extensions, the contact points on the bumper are too wide any way you look at it. I have a "little" experience softening resin and working with it I posted a 1937 Ford on here somewhere when i First joined, for those of you old enough to remember (this company has been de-funct for quite some time) MAD DOG resins were notoriously BAD really twisted, different gauges of thickness in the body, walls, panels etc..THAT'S where I gained my experience.

That has always concerned me about these resin body panel trans-kit - getting a secure attachment and correct alignment with the remaining plastic kit body. The reason I have never purchased one - at least so far. Sorry Bill I can offer no advice.

Wow Mad Dog Resins is a name I have not heard in a while, that was the Bolton Brothers out of Long Beach Ca. they were at one time the only game around despite poor quality..that was back in 84? until about 92? They were original member of the Automotive Modelers Club I started, first year every meeting had 150 to 200 modelers show up! from as far away as 150 miles!! After almost 30 years I disbanded the club due to lack of participation..It was the only model car club in So Cal for a long time. Ron Bolton made so many resin kits, ever creative and always pouring resin, they had about 50 items in their ever changing catalog. The Brothers also held a model show in Long Beach for several years it was huge for the time with many models that influenced me to this day. Thanks for mentioning them, it really brought back some memories.. Chris

One final note. I contacted Vick from ZoomOn explained what was going on. He is going to do a new bumper. He said more like next wednesday he is away from the shop till then. Jury is still out on the kit( though it leans toward the positive) One thing I can say, you cannot beat the customer service.
