I have had a problem with the tape wrinkling the paint when not letting even lacquer fully cure for a few days between coats. I also took a page from House of Kolor and spray a Inter-Clear coat between the various coats mostly to seal the previous coat and it helps prevent bleeding and the tape seals to the Inter-Clear not the previous coat, no chance of peeling the previous coat. Also allows light sanding without cutting the coat too much... Just saying Chris

Ismael, Can you help a old timer out? From what you described as your painting procedure, you apply each coat of paint, then let it dry/cure for a week, the lightly rub it out. Why do you wait so long between coats. I do remember you saying that you don't have time to do a full paint job in one session due to work and family, but with today's lacquer based paints, you can lay down coat after coat start to finish in about a hours time without sanding between coats unless necessary. joel Hi Joel, I don't wait a week in between coats. Usually a day or so depending on time availability. Sometimes a few hours like a coat in the morning and another in early evening. There is no reason to wait between coats. It is just that time is usually tight and for me painting is a ritual that involves a religious disassembly of the airbrush and clean it to perfection even between coats. That's part of the reason why my $19 airbrush is pushing 28 years and counting. Hey! I've never claimed to be normal! I also try to paint in warmer daylight because humidity here is 500% on average If I have the time I can do 3 or 4 coats within an hour or so. I don't rub in between coats. If needed (like on the C8) I do a light rub before the final wet color coat. But that's is not always the case. Thanks, Ismael

Thanks guys for the info.
Ismael, your painting method now makes a lot of sense. I never worry about humidity as we have Central air, it's the winter 50% humidity that's a problem as the paint dries even faster, so I add a few drops of Retarder to help combat it.
Chris, Interesting that you alternate color coats with a sealing clear coat. I seal the tape with a few very light color tack coats, but I just might try a clear base coat before the color coats to make bleed through a thing of the past.

Hello, Like in a movie after facial surgery.... the bandages came out.... A small overspray boo-boo at the bottom but no big deal, easy to fix. Overall going good but it needs a bit of attention. On the other side, it seems the surface was not perfectly clean and the paint flaked off in the pointy end here. So I made a little contraption to fix it. Airbrush fired a couple of sniper shots and here we are... Boy this is taking forever! And I think I'm still only about halfway there! Thanks, Ismael
