Hello, Me? Doing a Ford? Nahhh!!! Really? Don't worry, I'm still the Corvette nut and will still make fun of Eff Ou Are Dee... Now seriously, I think this will be only my second Ford model. I did a Polar Lights pre-painted 2005 Ford GT when they were released. I also have in my stash a Fujimi GT40 for someday. You see a pattern here? The latest Ford GT made a splash with its looks and unorthodox powerplant: A V6 turbo instead of the familiar V8. Chip Ganassi was selected to run the Ford GT racing program. The car debuted in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2016. Later that year, the car won the 24 hrs of LeMans. That's the car I will try to replicate here. Personally, I like the looks of the car, but I think it is the worst sounding car on the racetrack. But that's just my personal opinion. This is Revell's new racing Ford GT. I'm already working to get appropriate decals for the 2016 winner which are slightly different that the 2017 represented in the kit. First impression: This car is bigger than I thought! And there is Revell's stupid roof dome that should be a separate part, sticking like a sore thumb. It brings bad memories back from the C7R... I noticed that even if this is 1/24, the tires are exactly the same size as those in the 1/25 C6R. My intention is to stay as close as possible to box stock on this build. Thanks, Ismael

As yet to get one of these, from all reports it’s a great kit. Watching with interest.

Watching with interest! It’s a wild-looking car. And I agree, they sound weird. Sometimes they sound like they’re not hitting on all cylinders and other times they sound like a Peterbuilt.

Hello, Small update: It is officially started! DIE STUPID DOME! DIE! The story of the dome is that it is an IMSA mandated TV camera dome. It is not used in LeMans. Like Jamie Farr doing as Sheik would say in Cannonball Run: "Only in America" The stupid dome is incorrectly located in Revell's C7R. So even if doing a Daytona car (or any other IMSA configuration) it needs to be relocated. This is the IMSA rule: 10.8. In-Car Camera
10.8.1. Cars may be required to carry In-Car-Cameras (ICC).
a. Entrants must cooperate with the official broadcaster in the installation of the camera, including the provision of power for the equipment.
i. May require a battery pack.
b. Closed-cockpit Cars must mount an actual ICC, or the ICC replacement dummy unit, on their roof, and must:
i. Be mounted opposite side of centerline of the Car from the Driver
ii. 12.5” rearward of the trailing edge of the windshield
iii. 4.5” off the centerline of the roof
iv. Or as approved by IMSA
Thanks, Ismael

Do I understand correctly Ismael, you made the seat belt hardware?

Hello, Yes JC. Those are flattened pieces of solder which is quite soft. Sometimes I'm too cheap for photoetch and this is a Ford Seriously, I use photoetch on cars where they can be seen. But this one will most likely be very hard to see if at all. Thanks,

Seat looks great...nice thinking about the solder hardware, you have to stop this “it’s just a Ford” 😋

Ismael, I'll be following your OOB build closely, as I'm a Ford man. Growing up in the 60s, that's all my Father ever bought. So like father, like son.
Thanks for info on the camera, it's something that will come in handy sooner or later.
I'm really impressed with how you made those belts, and hardware. Going to be testing your procedure out, as it solves a ton of my harness issues for closed cockpit cars. Joel

Hello, The interior is progressing nicely. Out of Box or box stock... yeah right. I added a box with wiring harness, some plumbing (don't tell anyone but in the real car those are black wires but I like bright lines) and carbon fiber decals. The kit contains no carbon fiber decals at all. But I didn't cover the whole interior, again this will barely be seen if at all. This was just more for my own pleasure. You have already seen the seat, which is now in place. Now it is time to work on the engine and rollcage. Haven't touched the body other than eliminating the camera dome as I'm still waiting for the paints to arrive. Thanks, Ismael

All black interior can be uninspiring. I like the bit of color you added. It looks realistic even if it's not 100% accurate.

Ismael, the pit looks great. The use of some color turns a mono toned black cockpit into one with some life and a ton of interest. Joel

Hello, Started working on the engine. There is something wrong here: No, I'm not making the joke of the 2 missing cylinders. This is supposed to be a twin turbo V6. But there is nothing here that even remotely resembles a turbo, much less a twin pair. But even worst than that, let's assume the turbos are all hidden and out of view, the intake has nothing that would even insinuate a boosted setup. It looks like a naturally aspirated engine with weird air boxes. Maybe Multimatic/Ford didn't allow Revell access or something. But anyways, I'm not going there. I think/hope it will not be seen under the body anyways. Anyhow, here is the pretty much done engine. Thanks, Ismael

Ismael, I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination so I googled it. Revell kind of came close, but not that close. Joel
