Ismael, beautiful work! What did you paint the wheels with? They look real!

Ismael, Just the fact that you noticed those lenses is super impressive. Not to mention you actually made them. I'd sure hate to have to compete against you in a contest, as the outcome is pretty obvious to even me.

HA! Don't worry Joel, I don't compete. Last time I had a model out of the house was over a decade ago. Well, the 51 Chevy I built for my dad this past Christmas left the house but to go to his... Ben, the wheels are actually the plating color in the kit. I did not paint them because the color I had in mind is very similar anyways. However, I did clean some flash very carefully, then clearcoated with Future Floor Polish. After that a black wash in the lug nuts area added some depth. Then of course the center cap from carbon fiber decal and finally drilled for the valve stem which is a piece of wire with a cap of white glue. Tires were sanded in the tread and it all came together.
Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Also added the parts on the top lights. I noticed in reference pictures the rear brakes have a second small caliper, always black. I think that's the parking brake. Scratchbuilt those and installed. They are barely seen. I don't recall when was the last time I did a 100% box stock interior. This will be almost a slammer. Thanks, Ismael

Ismael, As a basically OOB builder these days, I go by the mantra that it's the finished display model that counts. What I've loved most about your builds is those incredible dioramas that always fool me into thinking that you've posted a picture(s) of the real car. That's how good your work is. All the added details and corrections is what I term Icing on the Cake.

Hello, Not much time this week, but I modified and installed a parts box rear view mirror. A detail that seems to be omitted in most kits these days. I added a mylar face to it. Hard to photograph as well. Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Since the chassis is basically a giant flat slab, warping is always a concern. So I added these little "L" brackets in all four corners to make sure there are no unwanted gaps between the body and chassis. Of course flat black paint will make them disappear. Thanks, Ismael

Ismael, That mirror really is a great added detail. Odds are I'd miss it for sure. Now I won't when I get around to building my GT Ford. And those "L" brackets really make a great deal of sense. Another one of your details I'm going to be borrowing from you.

Hello, Repeat with me: "BOX" "STOCK" "BOX STOCK" Sorry, but the molded grilles really suck! I know, this is a 10 parts toy... Thanks, Ismael

Hello, But..... what if it rains? Just did a rudimentary set of wipers. Not even sure if prototypically correct but just another omission in this toy. Thanks, Ismael

Ismael, Another classic case that if you didn't mention that you scratched the wipers, I'd swear that they came with the kit. And your grills really look the part. Revell of Germany should be taking notes of your build, and incorporate them into their next version.

It is FINISHED!!! *WARNING* POSSIBLE OFFENSIVE POST AHEAD Hello, I am a Corvette nut and a diehard Chevy guy. But I'm really a car guy. I don't have any problem admitting I also like Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos, etc. I don't have a problem admitting I like the design of the Ford GT even with the controversial turbo V6. I don't like how it sounds in race car trim, but that is another story. But this is like those sibling rivalries where I need to find a way to say I like it but insult it at the same time. So it occurred to me, LS swap it! That will insult my Chevy guys for doing not 1 but 2 Ford GTs and my Ford friends for putting an LS in it. See? All equally offended! So here is a Corvette guy's interpretation of a road Ford GT: Engine swapped for a twin turbo LSX putting out 1000+ HP. Hey! This hobby is about deceptions and lies. This car is more of a chassis car than an engine car. One of the driving modes selection is called VMAX for maximum top speed. In this mode the suspension drops all the way down and the spoiler remains down among other things to minimize downforce and drag. It is all about top speed in this mode. That's the stance I'm representing here. To me, stance is as important as the paint job in a car. The model itself is the Revell snap Ford GT. Far from a serious model this is not much more than a toy you put together. I intended to build it as a road companion to the race car I just built. Incredibly, this is the closest I've been to a box stock build in decades. Biggest gripe is the headlights. I don't like them at all. Anyways, a quick build with many corners cut. It may never get out of the back of the display case. Modifications: -Separated factory glued body halves for rework and painting -Added headlight details -Added inside rear view mirror (a common omission in most of today's kits) -Scratchbuilt parking brake caliper to rear brakes -Scratchbuilt wipers (another common omission in today's kits) -Added valve stems and carbon fiber center caps to the wheels -Added mesh grilles front, back and sides -Added reflectors in fenders and rear bumper -Added mirror faces (really Revell?) -Added local emissions inspection sticker (gotta be street legal) -Added my own controversial license plate -Removed brakes from chassis to have full control of stance -Added carbon fiber decal to the rear deck as a personal touch -Paint is Gravity Colors Ford GT Lightning Blue -Clear is good old MCW lacquer clear. The jar is over 10 years old. But I switched back to it after trying and not liking the 2K everybody raves about. The crate was made a while ago. I did the sign advertising it was a twin turbo LSX with 1000+ HP What do you think? Thanks, Ismael

Thank you Sam! I plan to take pics with the race car and with the blue 2017 Corvette I built last year. If only there was a model kit of the last gen Viper....
