Ismael, Now that's one impressive build. Sure doesn't look like a basically toy model. Your high building standards clearly shows no matter where I look.
I see where the headlights aren't up to the rest of the engineering and molding with the lenses being recessed so far. The paint is simply gorgeous with a mile deep shine. What were your objections to the current 2K craze? I've yet to try it, and prefer a clear gloss lacquer finish?

Thank you guys!
I will take more pictures with the race car and probably with the 2017 Corvette I built last year before publishing in other forums.
Joel, I could not get the 2K to lay down as perfect as people say it does without polishing. Second attempt it wrinkled a bit over decals. Third try I had to polish it, but it burned thru. So I did a color touch up over the 2K and hell broke loose. Had to strip down and start all over again. So I quietly crawled back under my rock and took out the jar of lacquer clear from MCW, purchased over 12 years ago with the results you see here. However I was told there is great variation between 2K suppliers and I was suggested to try a specific brand which I can't remember now (maybe Zero?). But I don't think I will anytime soon.
Thanks, Ismael

Thanks, Ismael Ismael, Like I said, I'm in your camp as well. it looks so easy to use in all those vids on You Tube. Everyone seems to have a different version. Zero and Gravity's are very popular, but very expensive. Some guys use real auto 2K clears, while Paul from International Scale Modeler uses a craft brand and loves it, which is also a lot less expensive. I spent a long time and several models learning how to air brush Mr. Hobby's Mr. Color C46 Clear Gloss lacquer. But I've got it down to a science now. I still need to use the Gravity 3 part polishing system, followed by their wax, but I've never burnt through it. I do wet sand with 6,000 through 12,000 as needed for the dreaded Orange Peel. I've settled on Gravity of Spain lacquer Paints, and MCW lacquer paints for US cars that I smooth out with 4,000-12,000. I decal right on top without any Glosscoat. I just find that smoothing out the paint gives the Clear Gloss a better surface to self level and thus less work for me. Joel

More pictures: Part of my garage Next to the race car: But they kicked me out as soon as they saw the license plate This 2005 Ford GT was the only Ford in my collection until now. It is the pre-painted Polar Lights kit. I just polished the body, painted the interior tan and added aluminum exhaust tips. I built this back when it was first release after holding in my hands the Polar Lights prototype in Indianapolis thanks to Art Anderson who worked on the development of the kit. Now I can show this to the world... Thanks, Ismael

Ismael, Love your garage. Given the option of the GT40, the Ford GT, or the Vette, which would you prefer to drive if some how you could shrink to 1/24 scale size?
If it were me, I'd take the GT40 every time.

Beautiful! I love the color.
I agree with you that the race car’s engine sounds weird. The NSX race car’s turbo six sounds so much better. I’m looking forward to seeing how the C8R Vettes perform against the GTs next year.
Joel, I’ll take the GT40, too. As great as the LS engines are, they don’t sound nearly as sweet as a Ford V8 at the redline.

I just ran through the entire thread again, and noticed the crate-engine crate. And now I’m imagining a diorama of Profil24’s Porsche 550 Le Mans coupe with an ominous crate sitting next to it: “ACME PORSCHE TYPE 912 4.5L FLAT TWELVE E-Z DROP-IN UPGRADE KIT.” Now if I can just find a 1/24th scale Wile E. Coyote figure...
Fine models. Fine thread.

Thanks guys,
Joel, I'd like to drive them all but I'd keep the Vette as a daily driver. Unfortunately, the 2005 Ford GT was not campaigned as a race car. Only private entries with very limited success. I would make a mix of both Fords: The front, interior and the engine of the 2005 with the rear, doors and chassis of the current one.
Thanks, Ismael
