Shayne, The 2K clearcoat came out fantastic.
I'm still using Mr. Hobby Super Clear lacquer, but I'm weakening real fast.

Shayne, I've gotten to the point, especially at my age to take all precautions when air brushing all types of modeling paints, especially lacquers. I use a spray booth, and wear an approved respirator mask just in case some of the fumes aren't sucked out. My greatest fear about the 2K process is that once it starts to dry in your air brush, that's the end of it. At least that's what I've heard & read. Joel

Joel I have never had an issue with 2K drying in the gun while spraying, I have at times not done a great job of cleaning up afterwards and found it stuck together when going to use it the next time. I was using Acetone to clean up but then bought some Gun Wash from the paint supply and it’s brilliant, I use a pipe cleaner and strip the tip off and clean all of the parts that paint has passed through or touched. So far all is good. I go hard with the Gardner, sounds wrong I know and I like to clear on hot days in the garage and have not had anything go hard so far...

Hello,
I tried the 2K 3 times. Did not get the results I was hoping but that's just user error and a matter or practice. However, I learned the hard way that lacquer over 2K is a risky proposition. Had a little rub thru while polishing. Airbrushed a light coat of paint to fix it but it crazed and cracked. Ruined the job and had to strip and start all over again. I'm now back to good old lacquer clear (MCW) and elbow grease. Just my experience. Your mileage may vary and not insured by the FDIC.
Thanks, Ismael

Shayne, You nailed it for sure. We can't get the Tamiya LP paint here, but I'd swear that the Mr. Hobby/Mr. Color is the same paint from the same paint company that Tamiya owns.
