JC, Just goes to prove how little I actually know about American Iron. I had literally no idea. But the new wheels with the opening of the slots really does look good.

Fabricated the back half of the racing interior. The tub I started with is on the right.

JC, Simply amazing work. It sure looks like it was injected molded just like the one on the right.

JC, Your roll bar, like all you other details looks like it came with the kit. How exactly do you get those bends to turnout so perfectly? I never got two the same, nor either close to what I was looking for.

I always use solid rod in lieu of tube for my roll cages Joel, it bends without kinking. For this simple hoop I just bent the rod with my fingers then heated it over a candle flame to set the shape. Sometime I use round needle nose pliers to get more consistent bends.

JC, Already I see places where I screw up. All of my plastic rod is hollow, and as you pointed out it kinks almost constantly. My heat source was a lighter, and thus more issues. I pre-heat the rod then bend it, and it almost always deformed. So from what you're saying, bend cold: set with a candle heat.
Thanks for all the detailed info. I can assure you it will be put to good use.

Yes bend cold. When you are holding it over the candle you will feel the stress release in the bend, that tells you when to take it off the flame. Dove into the parts box to find a nice fiberglass style racing bucket and the lightest passenger seat I could find.

JC, Thanks for the update. This does prove that even old guys can learn new tricks.
The bucket and passenger seat looks like they were molded with the kit. A really nice find.

Removed the gas tank, made bumper mounts and a patch panel on the lower corner of the rear quarter where it had broken off.

JC, You really do make what is difficult to the average modeler, look so easy. The sign of a true craftsman.
