I built this one some time ago from the old MPC kit. I know not dead nuts perfect but this kit was a ..........! to build and I'm happy with the result. Cady decals, Testors red over white primer.
The kit design had the body work hinged at roof. I made a new hinge at the rear as pics of the 1:1 I've seen had.

Looks great! I've got a couple of these kits in my stash. Haven't had the time to build them, just hope they come out 1/2 as good as yours.

You did a great job on a really difficult kit to build. Outstanding

Spectacularly clean build!
I have 4 or 5 kits for this car from different manufacturers. All of the body shapes are different, some slightly and others with longer and shorter noses, missing the Gurney bump etc. It makes you wonder, supposedly they were all measuring the same car. On the other hand some people maintain that all of the cars were painted as the red #1 for display purposes in 67 or 68. Some people even claim that the car in the Ford museum is not the original Gurney/Foyt winner.

Ron, That's one really nice build for sure. Excellent paint and decal work. I have several of the Fujimi GT40 kits, and none have engines, while your MPC build does, and looks great with the engine cover open. That's a major plus as far as I'm concerned.

Very nice indeed. I built one as the Sebring winner as I think it is different than the Lemans version. I built the Testors Mark IV which of course is not as nice but it does have opening doors. I'll post some pictures. Looking forward to your pictures. Joel

Joel Despite this being built 30 years ago and the kit is around 50 years old long before the resin ones and Fujumi came along with the Mark II's it has held up pretty well.

I all to well know the issues of trying to build a kit from yesterday. I'm presently working on the old 1970's Tamiya 1/18 scale Lola T-160 TS motorized version, and just trying to convert it to a display model, and bring it up to today's standards has proven to be an extremely difficult and time consuming build. Much more so that I had originally envisioned.
