I need to remount some tires onto plastic rims on an 1/18 scale diecast model, and usually just really hot water will do the trick, but not this time.
Anyone got any tips?

Maybe just leave them in the hot water longer? Got any spares you can experiment on? Anything else I can think of (hair dryer/heat gun) seems too risky.

Maybe the hot water’s reducing the inside diameter, due to expansion. Did you take them off at room temperature? If so, how easily did they come off?

You ever do something on a model, and then say to yourself: "Well, I'll get right back on that tomorrow"? Took them off well over a year ago. Two piece wheels, and was able to pry the outer off, with the tire, but now I can't get the tire back over the inner. For the life of me, I have no idea how I did it. |
