I have a very favorite book among so many that I thoroughly enjoyed, Fast Lane Summer by Leon Mandel Its about the Single Seat Can Am racing of Danny Sullivan with Garvin Brown Racing, for some reason I just had a great time reading this 96 page book , it made Danny Sullivan one of my heros Chris, You may want to check out this documentary about the last few races of the 1981 Can-Am season. Danny Sullivan driving for the Garvin Brown Racing team features prominently. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uKp9gLw_ZA
Also, another vid on the 1982 Can-Am also features Danny: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bWGlKQUA54
You can't have too many Can-Am videos!

cant have enough Can Am Video's? Or attend enough Can Am races? This is the Esses at Riverside 1969 , to the left of the pole is Me! at age 14, to the right with red hair Steve, my now deceased brother age 16, next Wearing the white Shelby shirt , remember all the AAR guys did that as a joke at that race, is John, my Dad at age 40 and seated to his right is Jerry Gaston , just too old to mention, watching the Chaparral 2H passing the Vasser Pollack Porsche 917 Spyder like it was sitting still ..... I went to every Can Am race held there. Chris

What was it afx said about conversation starters? That picture’s stories upon stories.
Have just crawled out of an überlong weekend in the Boreal forest, where I devoured “Speed With Style” like a wendigo on a long pork binge. It was not what I expected. It was better.

I read as much good fiction as I can. Racing fiction’s been pretty thin on my radar, though, “The Red Car” aside, so thank you. Gonna dig those out.

Cameron, Thanks for posting those two videos. I just finished watching the 1st one, and I was blown away by it.

Thank you all for the very fine suggestions. I must’ve bought at least a dozen and a half of them, and I read them all at the summer hideout. (Didn’t get any modelling done; had a porch to re-plank and paint.)
Mr. Kron’s recommendation of the dragster-history book was the unlikeliest to appeal, given that I’m mostly into fearsome little European endurance racers, but his eloquent description rolled the dice for me, and it was an unexpected standout. I devoured it, and am pleased to, in turn, recommend it. It is a totally-readable Learned Work.
