Well, another 1-2 sweep by Mercedes with Hamilton winning once again. As a matter of fact they dominated the entire event from P1 to Qualifying to the front row of the grid, to crossing the finish line 1-2. Highlight of the race weekend for me was McLaren who qualified 5th & 6th, and looked like the equal to Red Bull. Now that's progress for sure. They finished 6th & 9th with Norris once again losing out to his teammate.
Vettel finished a very poor 5th even with getting 1 pt for the fast lap of the race. His Ferrari teammate Leclerc finished 3rd. I'm not ashamed to say I'm a Red Bull & McLaren fan. Verstappen/Red Bull split the Ferrari's and finished 4th.
There was more scoring/penalty issues of an assessed 5 sec penalty given to Ricciardo for the same issue that Vettel got his penalty. Needless to say that Ricciardo was furious about it as he followed the procedure for re-entry as exactly explained at the driver's meeting.
Honestly, I really don't see any real competition for Mercedes at this point, and they have a really good shot at winning every race.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to justify continuing to watch the race broadcasts. I think they should start making Mercedes start 1/2 lap behind the rest of the field.

Rob, It's just not us that find F1 to be exceedingly boring. I've just read a interview on the F1 site that basically said that and a whole lot more. Racing is supposed to be just that: RACING. Sure, there have always been dominant drivers, but nothing like this. The front of the field is just Mercedes with Hamilton the #1 driver by far. That's it. Honestly what I call the almost contending is Ferrari and Red Bull with Verstappen being clearly the #1 driver there, and Gasly is just plain horrible. I just read that he's not coming back next year. Maybe dump him now. The next sector is what is called Mid Pack. That's where all the actually F1 racing is, and it does my heart good to see McLaren now starting to head in the right direction and be the hot shoe there. But like you, I don't watch a F1 race to see mid pack racing as there was basically no racing for the win what's so ever. F1 has major issues starting with the vast differences in team budgets, and resources. They need to start to look a some kind of cap to help level the playing field. Tires seem to be a bigger issue then ever, which is insane as every team has to use the same tires. So just make the tires last longer, and let the teams choose which compound they want to run when period. The biggest issue I saved for last, and that's F1's insane love affair with Aero. The fact is that the more Aero top, sides, bottom, and Wing, the worse the racing gets. Personally, I could care less that these wonder cars are the best in the world. They produce some of the worst side by side racing period. Indy Cars had to deal with similar issues and find a compromise to put the racing back in their races. And to a great extent they've achieved that, with more to come I might add. Austria is this Sunday, and it's basically a small track compared to France. Hopefully that will make Ferrari & Red Bull more competitive, but in the end we all know that Hamilton will win unless there is a car issue. Joel
