Talk about two races within a race. As expected Mercedes just ran away with the race from the start to the finish. Both Drivers could have stopped for a quick lunch and still finished 1 & 2.
But the excitement and all the action was the huge battle between Ferrari and Red Bull. OMG! what fantastic racing. Well, at least until Vettel took out Verstappen by going into the corner way to deep. Vettel finished dead last even without the 10 sec penalty as he needed a new nose, yet Max's car survived the gravel ride, and he finished 5th right behind his teammate Gasly, who drove the best race so far this year. Actually, another few laps and Verstappen would have repassed Glasy once again. McLaren and Renault really went at it as the best of the mid field teams. Every race McLaren just gets closer to becoming a front runner right behind Red Bull. What they need is a better engine then their current Renault unit.
Sky TV opted to focus nearly all of the coverage on the Ferrari/Red Bull, and the McLaren/Renault battles. I'm sure that the TV fans loved it, I know that I sure did. But I did wonder what will happen behind closed doors when the formal complaints from Mercedes come in that their drivers received almost no coverage after the start, to the last few laps. Like I said, I think that Sky did the correct thing, and made a boring Mercedes 1-2 into an exciting F1 race for us to watch.
