I'm going to attempt my first 1/12th build - The Yardley McLaren M23. But I'm a bit stumpted before I begin (apart from the instructions being in Japanese only). Has anybody been able to duplicate the orange that McLaren used in the early days? The sidepods on the car are painted that colour and I can't find any Tamiya that comes close. Any ideas guys?

Hey Wolf... give me a chance tomorrow to see if my instructions are in English. I opened my 312B and found an English and Japanese booklet! The color callouts from those early days are HORRIBLE! Let me see what I can find for you!

Tamiya Brilliant Orange is the color for the McLaren Orange. It was released when they re-issued their 1/16 Can am car a few years back. IF you want a bottled paint, Model car World makes an airbrush ready Mclaren Orange: 2070 (Orange) or 2120 (Lt. Orange)

I agree with the Brilliant Orange. Used it on all of my 1/43 McLaren Can-Am builds.

I found the TS56. That's about as close to that papaya orange as you'll ever get. Thanks again guys.
I built an M8 can am car a while back. It was moulded in orange so I just clear coated it. It looks like a shiny orange plastic car. I might just go back and re-spray it properly now!
