mustang1989 The tires and wheels look fantastic. Are you saying that the chrome is Molotow that you coated on? How did you do that? Air Brush I'm assuming? One other stupid question. The rear slicks have a pretty tight fit in the wheel wells. What in real life would prevent them from getting cut by the body under acceleration? Joel Thanks Joel. Yeah that's Molotow shot through the airbrush uncut. If you look closely in the reference photos those rear tires do have some cuts in them. Just a beastly look though. Nice n' aggressive. Mustang1989, I thought I saw one site selling Molotow refills. Is that what you used. As far as the tires getting cut, I'd be worried that a tire could go down from a cut to deep. Joel

Joel Yessirree it was. Works out great but the cure out time is 48 hours or so. I'd be a little worried myself but hey.....it looks good. lol

I've never used Molotow or any of those type of markers. If they're oil based, then it's a long cure time, which I'm assuming it is.

It's alcohol based. Touch it before the cure out time though and you'll end up with a nasty finger print on whatever surface got painted with it.

Ok fellas.....I haven't deserted this place. Just got busy in the 1:1 world with other stuff and since this was a newer forum to me it kind of got lost in the shuffle. But ......I'm back. Been working on this thing for a bit now.. Starting to get googly eyed.... Oil filter, starter, bellhousing and transmission have all been painted up and installed. Working on the intake area of the build now which is where all the details are going to be. Stuff like ignition wiring, throttle linkage, fuel lines and all the mumbo jumbo stuff that goes in there.... All test fitted together with a set of carbs that I have in the stash. Proper carbs (a set of dominator carburetors from Futureattraction) will go on top when I get 'em in the mail....which should be any day now. and for test fitting the engine into the frame to check out header options, header to frame clearances and general fit..... so I don't damage or mess up any of the details that I'm building here I've got another 427 that came in a glue bomb Maverick that I got in the mail that's undergoing a restoration/ transformation. and then I found my headers that are going to give me the perfect clearance. I just cut the flanges off of them and modified the header extensions on the Jo-Han headers to match up with the headers and we're all set. Another major hurdle of this build overcome.

Your engine is really looking top shelf. Just love the oil filter with the decal as well as the twin carbs on the high rise intake manifold. As for your headers, I'd say that it's a match made in heaven.

Thanks fellas. Well gang....progress at last. I've been hard at work on this bad boy and have not posted anything due to trying to hit the bench a little harder. Here she is in the primer stage: and after I let that all dry out I hit it with color (Tamiya Pure Red dispensed from the can and shot through the AB) the next day. Didn't have to do ANY sanding to the primer coat. A couple of mock ups once the color coat had dried....couldn't help myself but to do this but have to admit that Mavericks look a little out of the ordinary in red:

Mavericks are supposed to be painted some Godawful shade of brown.
In that rear 3/4 shot it looks a lot like a Torino, especially being red.

Still, she's looking pretty darn sexy in the Red Paint.
