This is the end result I'm gunning for!
Decals shown below are going to be a challenge because of the full body format that they are in,
but they were the only ones I could find and I scoured the internet for days looking.

The 1:1 is a handsome car. It should build up as a really sharp model. The decal approach is crazy. It would be worth it to drop out the yellow and have the rest custom printed. There's no guarantee they will conform to the actual shape of the scale model body.

Ya I had never seen NASCAR decals in this format before and these were literally the only decals I could find for this particular version of Joey's car.
They definitely look a bit sketchy, but I think the approach I am going to take is spend alot of time cutting right to the edge of each decal and applying that way as opposed to trying to apply the full panel - because as you picked up on it may not be to the exact scale of this dry resin body - no 2 are really ever spot on the same.
I haven't been this excited about a build in along time though so I'm determined to make it work! Wish me luck

The underside is rough but what shows looks pretty good.

Ya, this is my first Independent Caster, usually I will grab the Powerslides when they are available - and if you've never purchased one they have come a long way and are pretty sweet to work with - definitely a lot easier than this guy. But again, I'm not complaining as the outer is quite smooth, and in fact oddly enough the roof top panel (flap) lines are spot on - nice and crisp - where as Powerslide's are notoriously terrible! Go figure

I'd definately be cutting out the individual decals and applying them seperately. Besides, don't you want a paint finish on the car?
I'm with you on the car choice, that Mustang is one good looking stock car. And I like Joey.

Ya Joey is hilarious, I will be using the finishing method that I have developed for my stock car models that has so far served me pretty well. I will bhit it with 2 coats of Tamiya Primer - wet sand until its like a baby's butt - then hit 2 or 3 layers of yellow - then a light layer of Future - then apply the decals cut right to the edges - then another 1 or 2 coats of future - and finish with 3 or 4 rounds of tamiya gloss ( wet sanding in between coats ) and a buff after 2 weeks of drying. Hope to produce a really finish on this bad boy
