Another cusp selection that both road raced and drag raced. I just got the Mini-Exotics last month when "Hot Rod Deluxe" (not a road racing mag, BTW) did a cover inset with a very detailed story including great shots from Riverside Oct. '63 and '64. and another great one from autopuzzle: (in spite of the scan lines)

Grant did believe in the use of spoilers! The one on his Lotus 19 was a pit board I hear. Did you get to see that at Riverside, Chris?

Picked up one of those from a friend a couple of months ago. Traded him a Trumpeter Ranchero for it.
The Johnny Lightning Cobra Daytona in the photo is interesting, too. Didn't know they had done one. May have to get one.

Yes, I did see the Cheetah run at Riverside in 1964... I had taken quite a few photos at Laguna Seca in 1994 at the historics and the promptly lost the film before I even got home!! What amazed me was the car was extremely lightweight, the interior was sparse, only the needed items! The seat was literally bolted to the rear end housing and there were numerous areas where open pavement could be seen... they sounded fabulous and of course, just like the Corvette Grand Sport you could hear them approach. One of my all time favorite race cars, no doubt!! Chris

Gorgeous car, the Cheetah! I saw a couple or 3 race at Riverside in the Times GP and occasionally in SCCA National races. They were based on Corvette components and thus fit in a racing class titled "Modified". But they just weren't going to hang with the Chaparrals, Lolas, McLarens, Lotuses or even Cooper King Cobras of their day.

Hi, Any progress on this Cheetah? It looks like a really nice casting job. I have one from Modelhaus, but doesn't have all the hood vents so it would be very early one. I believe its a re-pop of the Cox kit. Is that Cady decals in the photo? I bought a set from VRM that has a lot of options on it- www.v-r-m.com/decals.htmSandy
