This is my latest build at the moment and my 1st Model Factory Hiro kit😁 A small history of this car. It is chassis no 43, it finished second at Le Mans only to Porsche 917K witch in 1970 was the 1st time Porsche took to over all victory. As most Porsche fanatics will attest to, the manufacture to beat ever since this initial victory. I did do a little research and found that this particular car is as famous as the gulf 917 only do to its wild paint job. So wish me luck and try to have patience with updates as there is a ton of prep work just to make sure everything fits as it’s supposed to. Thanks again for looking Chris Oh yeah Thank you 2wheel for posting my photos and greeting me on the dark side😉🤣

Thanks Paul! The photos above are all the parts for step 1. Building the engine. I do have quite a few hours into filing, drilling and dry fitting. Now all I need to do is wash the metal parts, prime them and paint. Right now my biggest concern is how do I get all these parts on some sort of stand or something to prop them up so I can do a decent paint job.

Chris, Great start to another outstanding MFH 1/12 scale Porsche 917 build. Outside of 908's, this is my all time favorite Porsche series. The dry fitted engine really looks dead on. The details just are mind boggling. Wish I could offer some advice on how to paint all those little detail parts, but I don't have a clue.

I did start painting the engine block and cylinders. It is a lot different than what I am used to, doing a lot of thinking outside the box. But I will admit it, going to the dark side is fun!!

I had a chance to get some color on the engine. I am primarily using Alclad paints on this part. So I painted the engine block magnesium and the cylinders and heads burnt iron. I do have a lot more to do, but I am pleased with where I am at. Thanks for looking Chris

So... since the city of Walnut Creek told all of the small businesses to shut down at 1 pm on Monday because of the protesters and looters. So I had to shut down my shop.. but I made the best of the situation, I was able to build most of the linkage for the fuel injection, a lot of small parts and those springs took a bit to to get installed. And try not to stretch! Thanks for looking Chris

Thanks for looking Chris nice work Chris, MFH has some insanely detailed kits and i have a few waiting to be built some day. the paint scheme looks like a decal nightmare on this one, but should really pop when done. So is your shop in Walnut Creek a hobby shop ? i always like to support local small hobby shops because they are becoming fewer and fewer.
