As I suspected they are a Shawn custom - great work. I agree the wheels are important to get right or as close as you can.

Shawn, What an outstanding collection of Sierra's. Each one is simply amazing. I was really impressed with the interior of The Eggenberger car. Just beautiful work inside and out on the entire collection.

I bought a Xr4-tii Merkur in about 1989 , just like the one on the Tamiya kit box, I have to say it was one of the best cars I ever owned. I had a problem with it running rough so I took it to the Mercury dealer and after a couple of days they called and told me they were unfamiliar with the German Fords and couldnt fix it. I just happen to be a member of Ford Motorsport so I called the Vice President of Ford in charge of Motorsports, who later became the President of World Production for All Ford Vehicles!. He was right on it, they delivered a brand new Town Car Lincoln for me to drive, Flew in 2 Factory Technicians from the Merkur plant in Germany and they went through the entire car, delivered it to me , picked up the Lincoln , didnt charge me a dime and the Merkur was a Jet after that. Super Comfortable, blindingly Fast and I was Very Happy with that car. I drove it another 5 or 6 years, never had another problem and traded it in at a Ford dealer for a 92 Mazda RX7 Convertible, one of 1800 made that year since they changed the body style for 93 and no longer offered a convert, that was a awesome ride too. There is a place in Washington state that sells all the Sierra bolt on body panels to convert the XR4-tii to a Sierra 5000 group 5 street car. Expensive but they are real factory parts... Chris

WOW Chris that is a customer service tale for the ages. Got an issue with your car? No problems, just take it all the way to the top to get it sorted .

Hi Guys I've got some more for you. Sorry this one is a bit pic heavy. All first two were old partly finished builds and the redkote car was a restoration of an old build.
The first one is the car that Alan Jones (1980 F1 World Champion) and Colin Bond (Aussie legend) drove to 3rd place in the 1988 Bathurst 1000.
This one is the car that Kevin Waldock and Bryan Thomson drove to 12th place in the 1989 Bathurst 1000
This one is the car that Dick Johnson took to the UK to compete against the European Sierras. They took pole position and left the Europeans in their wake during qualifying but a bad water pump seal took them out of the race.
For the first time in years I don't have any Sierras in progress although I still have two untouched kits and one restoration to choose from if I change my mind.
Cheers ShawnS

Fantastic Flock and variety of Sierras. It'd be mighty if Tamiya re released this. With the Sapphire Cosworth due for re lease soon, it'd be a great time for Tamiya to take the opportunity to release this also. I gather they are the kit stock wheels you've used on a few of the builds? I know there's after market ones available which are bigger ,but I think the stock wheel looks right in your builds here.

Thanks, The mesh wheels that you can see on most of them are the original kit wheels but I use aftermarket and scratchbuilt wheels when required. The Redkote car you can see above actually has a set of front wheels on the rear too.
A lot of people are wishing that Tamiya re-issued the Sierra kit but they don't seem to care. As far as car kits go Tamiya seem to be asleep at the wheel with other manufacturers coming up with great new and re-issued kits that are very popular but Tamiya seem to be happy to release one new (Very expensive) kit here and there as well as the same old re-issues that no-one seems to get excited about.
Cheers ShawnS

Shawn, What a fantastic set of Sierras. Each one is an exceptional build. I really took a good long look at your painting, decaling, and finishing on each car, and all are absolutely perfect. I'm truly impressed.

They really are beautifully built models. Makes me tempted to try an IMSA Merkur conversion. Hmmm.........
