Paul, Very Nice Job on the Chain, shows You massive amounts of patience. I was looking at the 1/9 Protar Yamaha RD 56 kit I had bought a while back and considering doing something different for me, First its a Motorcycle and also its would be Box Stock for me.. well Kind of. You know I cant leave everything alone!! LOL. Keep up the great updates on your builds.. Chris

Thanks Chris. All of those tiny side plates were a real trial. You should do a motorcycle, they're a change of pace from cars. I decided to tackle the wheels next since they were the other tough part of this build. 52

Paul, I love bikes, and I love building bikes. But that chain and that wire wheel........... I have neither the dexterity nor the patience to try that. I think I'll stick to Tamiya thank you!
Nice job by the way, plus it's a Ducati so hell yeah!

Gee, thanks for reminding me of something else I can't do anymore - ride a bike!!! Oops, sorry about that Paul I got some color on the frame. Tamiya TS-54 Light Blue Metallic. I figure it's a close match to the original. 112

Really nice detailed work on all three Ducatis you’re building here.
The TT 750 is the closest of these to the Ducati I used to own, a 1980 Pantah SL500. It was a very fun bike to ride. I suppose there is not a kit made of this version.
Anyway, I hope to see the finished models you are building, they are beautiful.

That's right Sam...three I went to a contest last Saturday and it made me realize that I need a new motorcycle build to enter in the next one. Since this one already had the hardest parts done, I decided to finish it off. Cylinder parts were readied and assembled. I also got some color on the body parts. 346

Paul, Just amazing stuff for sure. Your chain looks fantastic. If you didn't come up with the peening with a nail set, does MFH give you any kind of tool or suggestion on how to do it?
One other dumb question from me as I noticed that you use mostly Tamiya TS lacquer paint from a rattle can. I'm assuming that since you paint jobs are always perfect, you decant, and then Air Brush the paint on.

MFH expects you to snap the side plates over the ends of the rollers. But when they take the parts out of the mold, the balls on the ends turn into cones. So the end plates won't stay on. I kinds took a page out of the real world, and peened those cones over. Once the side plates were on, I heated the nail set and used heat to gently peen the pins down. My paint jobs are far from perfect. I sprayed the paint straight out of the can. After years of doing it that way, I've developed a knack to using spray cans. The body pieces were sprayed with Testor's Sterling Silver Metallic lacquer. BTW....there are no dumb questions....only dumb answers

Good job on the chain, looks authentic.. I almost exclusively use Tamiya Lacquer straight out of the can, why? I'M LAZY!!!! I assume like Paul weather can change on the drop of a dime around California and Arizona so when I can paint I dont waste time .. In about 1990 I got 15 Monte Carlo 1/25 scale bodies from a Hobby Shop for $10. and spent the year learning various methods of painting with Spray Cans and also stripping it off too.. It made a big difference in my paint jobs. Dont get me wrong I still have 5 Airbrushes 2 Compressors, a Tank and a Spray Booth. (kinda sounds like a Christmas song LoL!!) and on the 6 day of Airbrushing bla bla bla... LoL Chris

Paul, Your Peening makes total sense to me, as back in the 1970's I raced in the International Karting Federation Stock Lite and Heavy classes in Enduro Karts on real race tracks. My Classes still used a chain that I actually peened and have one chain for each set of gears to make life easier as the tracks varied and so did the gear ratios needed.
Chris, So you're a Rattle Can dispel as well. I'm still a hardcore air brush type of guy and have 3 Grex's in my arsenal. But I do use either Tamiya or Gunze primer in the can for quick, small jobs. I'm tempted to try Gloss Black. Semi Gloss Black, and Matt Black from the Rattle Can for smaller jobs where cleaning the air brush is the longest part of the process.
Do you pre heat the cans in very warm water?
