Thanks Chris and JC. I never expected I'd be the one to inspire you guys, but hey, whatever works!

Very nice job with the “updates” to reflect the Sebring version which had differences from the Lemans versions. I think IMC carried over most of the parts from the J-Car which explains things like the exhaust being incorrect. I built the MPC version as the Sebring car and it has it’s share of inaccuracies too. Yep, both IMC and MPC did this. The MPC kit goes on to become the Hardcastle & McCormick Coyote and that tool is lost forever. The IMC kit does have the correct exhaust parts, just not labeled in the later issues. For what reason, who knows. I think it was in the very early releases as my GT build has them.

Mine didn't, which surprises me not in the least.
It did come with an extra incorrect rear firewall, a spare set of also incorrect interior door panels, a single carb intake manifold, and the heads, intake trumpets and center exhaust to build a 4 cam motor.
Don't ask me, I just build them.

MPC kit I built a very long time ago (probably late 1980s.). As you can see I was confused how to handle the lack of opening features so I just glue the entire top half together. <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> I do that a lot. I like a lift off body, you can usually get a better looking end result and see more detail when you remove it. In hindsight I should have done that with these IMC kts, lol.
Seems a lot of the old kits were way off when it comes to authenticity. We get spoiled when we get new Tamiya's to play with!

Paul, Just a great build as the end results really do look quite good.
