Art.Kevin used a Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport Engine on these, so if you want to do a hi-detail thing lop it off at the trans and use the plastic kit engine and all its detail accessories ... just saying!! Chris

Oh interesting. If I had known that earlier, I just might have done that, but I'm getting farther along now. I think this is going to end up OK in the end. Thanks for the tip, Chris!

Hi All A quick correction on the F5000 Lola, motor/transmission. This kit did not contain anything from Accurate Miniatures. I believe I used a NASCAR Chevy engine and modified an Indy car transmission. I will be using a modified Accurate Miniatures engine in the upcoming Shadow kit to be released this fall. Thanks Kevin K.

I'm still making progress on this one, a little at a time. Actually, I have a lot of time in the body prep, but not a lot to show there yet. But here are some random photos of some work. Drilled out some openings for seat belts. I also drilled a hole on the body in an inconspicuous place and inserted a wooden dowel to hold it for painting. The only calipers I had that might work for the rear are not quite the right shape, so I reshaped them a little. This one is still a little rough in this shot.

Art,
Really nice work. The engine and suspension are starting to shine. Is this the kit you were telling me about when we were driving to Fontana?

Thanks, Rob! Yes, this is the one I was referring to. It's a bummer Fontana won't be on the schedule next year...

Art, That's coming along Very Nicely. The Gold BMF gives an effect the decals wouldn't have, Well Done.

JC, Ed, really appreciate the comments! I got some time in on this one the last few days. I re-positioned some of the decals on the front. They were just a little too low. I moved the gold on the bottom chevron up just a bit so I then had room to move the decals up where they needed to be. I also doubled up the sunburst roundel on the cowl, because it was bleeding through just a little too much. I also made the Valvoline decals, and the electric switch sticker, and the fire extinguisher E decal that will go on the windshield later. I then cleared the body and polished it out so it wasn't too glossy and got all the junk out of it at the same time. Then I masked off the body so I could paint the aluminum tub. I used Aluminum Plate metalizer, and it looked pretty bitchen until I put the sealer on. I don't usually use the sealer, but this had so much area that was going to get handled, I felt like I had to. The sealer made it look like silver paint, but I'll live with it. The seat got painted, and belts will come later to cover the molded ones. Some screens were also added to the radiator vents. I threw in a few mock up pics also...
