Very nice. The race car selection in 1/43rd scale is staggering. I wish we had a fraction of these cars available in 1/24 scale.

Thanks for the kind words. I have a proper 1/43rd road racing model in progress; a Lotus 18. I'll post some 'in progress' photos.

Since USAC raced at Riverside for the Rex Mays race in that era, many of the USAC Indy car regulars DID get used on road race courses. Of course, Dan Gurney dominated those events on his home course (he grew up in Riverside). But Dan got taken out of the Indy 500 in 66 in the green flag melee that caused the whole race to be stopped. I felt he had good prospects for the Indy win in his new Eagle.

Here's one from the 'sometimes it's better to be lucky than good' category. I made a last minute decision to attend 'The Model Car Guys' show held at the NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA this past Sunday. I also made a last minute decision to enter the Lola in the contest mainly because Art had been chiding me about not bringing models to the shows. To my utter astonishment, the Lola took 1st place in the 'Fast on the Ovals' category. It was truly my lucky day as I also won the raffle twice with one of the prizes a 72 Olds 442 Indy 500 pace car kit complete with Linda Vaughn figure! The NHRA Museum is a great venue and a must see for anyone interested in Motorsports. I have never considered myself a contest model builder, but I'm already scheming on what to do next year.

Yes Art, I have to admit it is lot more fun to go to the shows as a participant and not just a spectator.

Congratulations Rob, I was invited to attend but it didnt work out. This is a great show put on by Ron Ramsey, my best friend of 30 years, I am glad I pushed him to to start putting on a show after I moved. It is a great place to have it, last time I was there they had the Gurney 63? Mickey Thompson "Rollerskate" car on display.. some awesome stuff in the museum.. again Congrats Chris
