I finally finished this one. The windshield gave me fits and I never was able to fix it to my satisfaction, but I was tired of working on the model and decided to just let it go. 1/43 SMTS kit. The model represents Innes Ireland's 1960 Solitude GP winner (1st GP win for Team Lotus, albeit non points paying). The flash makes the green more vivid than it really is, but all of the non flash pictures were out of focus. 1/43 models are hard to photograph.

Sweet! I love the way it is displayed, too. Good job.

I got one of these kits, 1/43 John Day, from Bob Tronolone the famous motorsport photographer, it is a hi=detail kit surprising considering John Day kits are usually not.. I am undecided on what version to build but someday.... Chris

I was never too fond of Lotus 18s. I really liked the 20 and later model Lotus designs. They were fairly successful though. And I saw them used in Formula Junior and Formula C through the 60s.
I grew up in a home with a copy of Innes Ireland's book on race driving on the book shelf next to some of dad's rally trophys. I walked past the book a few times a day to enter the dining room. So his was a very familiar name to me.
IIRC, Sir Stirling won the Monaco GP in an 18 with the lower body panel removed to keep cool in the hot weather.

Correct Richard, Stirling did win in a Lotus 18, the version I have has a full tube frame and interior so it can be built with or without he side. panels... Chris
