This was an on again off again GP car based on a Cooper T51 and powered by an inline-4 Squalo engine. It was named after Eugenio Castelotti one of Italy's best drivers. It was also very slow with the engine being over weight and under powered. My kind of perfect subject! I started out with a Marx Toys Hong Kong toy of a Cooper... I added a tube chassis with Evergreen rod... The engine, which is barely seen, was an AMT Offy with some spares box extras... The origonal car's engine used a funky induction system that required two downdraft Webers. The suspension s were a mixture of spare suspensions... It took a lot of re-fitting to get the rear suspension to fit properly, but it's coming along...

I'll bet this is the only model of that car ever built. Very clever engineering on the engine and suspension. The wheels on the toy look like the donk version of minilites

Wow! What a fantastic build, and from such humble beginnings. I like the obscure and interesting subject, too. Very impressive.
