I'd love to have a model of one of those. I wonder if a transkit is in the offing.

It would have to be a full blown multi-media kit, there's nothing to "transkit" it onto, the Revell 2015-2017 Mustangs are 11 piece toys designed to be a kid's first model kit.

Really? No mainstream manufactured full detail kits of current generation Mustangs? I'm surprised.

Really? No mainstream manufactured full detail kits of current generation Mustangs? I'm surprised. Revell has basically given up on making modern "muscle" cars unless they're in the Build n Play (designed for 6 yr old kids to be quickly built and played with) like their '15 & '17 Mustang and '17 Ford GT. Or in their line of - for lack of a better term - dumbed down intro line of kits that come with a pre-painted body, very basic engine (5 pcs or so) and promo style chassis that has included a '13 ZL1 Camaro,'13 Challenger SRT8, '14 Mustang & '17 Vette. The last full detail Mustang was in 2013. AMT has done a full detail '16/'17 Camaro kit this year, but the last full detail Revell Camaro is the 2010 SS, the last full detail Corvette is the 2010 ZR1.

Dont give up hope just yet. I've been chatting with the fine gentleman that runs Plamoz and I'm trying to convince him to do a TK for the 2015 Snap Mustang to update it to a 2016 Shelby GT350R. It will likely still be a curbside but if he works his magic and does front and rear bumpers along with mirrors and interior updates you can easily add the extra bits to make it into a GT4. This is not a done deal, but he seems to love Mustangs, so it could happen since it looks very unlikely that Revell with do a new gen full Mustang kit....no idea why not. They've done pretty much every year since 2005 with the revamp of the the Mustang styling, and those kits seem to have sold well, I've seen lots built and posted on forums. Maybe someone knows someone at Revell and can ask "why?"

Maybe someone knows someone at Revell and can ask "why?" Because they didn't actually sell all that well, which was probably a bit of over-saturation. The 2010 Camaro SS is one of the worst selling modern kits they did, which is why to make a 2014 Camaro Z/28 you need a $125 transkit from Plamoz. The problem - for me at least - isn't that the Build n Play Mustangs are curbside, it's that they're devoid of any chassis at all. It's just a flat piece of sheet plastic that the axles snap into the top of that's vaguely the shape of the silhouette of a Mustang. How do you add the coolers for the engine or the Shelby's exhaust when there isn't an exhaust to begin with...They're great kits for what they are - getting kids into the hobby, but adults need to stop supporting that dreck as a viable alternative to a full-detail kit. I'd be alright with the concept of the "Step 2" kits, like they've done of the '14 Mustang, an actual chassis albeit promo style with a basic engine and whatnot. Truth be told if someone wanted to do a GT4 transkit of a Mustang I'd take a 2014 one no questions as there are liveries for that made by some of the slot car guys already in existence.
