I recall an optical illusion from years ago, where if you stared at a picture with a bunch of arranged colored dots, then shifted your stare to a piece of white paper, you could see a picture of Abraham Lincoln--I was wondering if you stared at that checkered 'Vette long enough, then shifted you stare to a blank white sheet of paper, if you would see am image of Zora-Arkus Duntov? --Frank

Nice work on what looks to be a daunting decaling job. I frequently struggle with decals. Any tips on how you got the big pieces to conform over all of the compound curves?

Nice work on what looks to be a daunting decaling job. I frequently struggle with decals. Any tips on how you got the big pieces to conform over all of the compound curves? Generally for me, I get everything very wet. This allows you to move it around to basically where you want it with minimal chance of tearing the decal. Then you have to pick a starting point to line it up, every livery is going to be different pending on what elements it has. For this build I started with the roof and worked down. After the roof decal was in place I started on the sides and since they blend I had to line up the side decals with the C pillar. I then lined it up as best I could trying to get the biggest part of the decals square to the window frame and bottom of the rocker. Then starting in the middle I started smoothing it out These decals didnt fit 100% as you can see by the above pics, but they were not bad either. I'm actually surprised no one has produced these for the Revell kit yet. I know Profil 24 is suppose to be doing this kit in resin but at about $140 Euro per kit... not easy justifying picking up every one of their kits, unless you're independently wealthy, which I am not. It comes down to trial and error, patience and a crap load of luck tbh. Ok, time for some more pics..... I went to Michael's and picked up these in hopes they'd fill in the gaps without having to carve up the second sheet of decals I bought. And amazingly enough, they've worked. Some of the colours are not 100% perfectly matched but they're close enough. Up close you can see the difference in shades but from a few feet back its really hard to tell. So here's hoping they hold up to the first round of clear later today. I need to replace some of the small decals on the wrap as they were distorted or misaligned, but that's no biggie, lots in the parts box. I also need to add some other small decals from the kit sheet, tow hook arrows and body latch/fuel filler decals, then it will be time to clear. Thanks for looking in, more later today I hope.

David, Welcome to our group.
That's one of the most amazing decal applications I've ever seen. No matter how good the decals are, when there's that many large decals, it takes a really knowledgeable modeler to produce the end results that you've accomplished. I'm mighty impressed to say the least.

Hello David! Nice to see you in this fine group! Were the Larbre and the cammo C7R finished? Thanks, Ismael Thanks for the comments guys....unfortunately no, neither are finished as of this moment. I've been shelving builds the last two years and going on to other things far too much. This past weekend I've been trying to "clean up" the mess by getting some stalled builds completed. At the moment I've got 4 Revell Ford GTLM cars almost done so I'm working on those. Once they're done my plan is to go back and wrap up my 4 Corvette builds and get them done. The issue I have is that I'm easily distracted by shinny objects and new model kits. Later today the first of a couple of the new Tamiya Toyota TS050's arrive and I'll be starting in on that....cause I wont be able to stop myself. But I plan on building the first one straight through to completion then getting back on wrapping up the Ford GT's then the Corvettes. I should have an update on the Toyota later today with it's own thread.
