On the Oil Tank I added a weld line around the middle, just like the real one, added tubing to make the breather correct , a fill tube and a turned aluminum cap....details details.....Chris

Similar weather here Chris. Low 50s for a high today and what we call "breezy", but most others would call damned windy. Blowing from the east, so the SF Valley probably has Santa Ana winds.
The Lotus is looking great! Any more info on adding the weld line on the oil tank? Putty and a knife? Or?

Yeah started blowing out of the South then about 2pm switched to coming from the North, thats when it gets cold and really blows.. The weld line on the oil tank in a photo etched piece from Top Modelers, I forgot I have the Archer resin decal lines too ...may have been easier than bending the Phito etch but it came out nice anyway.reference pics.

Nice photos for reference considering so many cars for so many years used the Cosworth DFV.
"thats when it gets cold " ... Does 23° this AM sound cool? I'm sure there are many on this forum who are observing rather cooler weather. But this is the SoCal desert afterall that so many think is always hot. Not our record low by a lot (-6° on 12/21/1990), but cause to bring in more wood for the fireplace. And not weather for painting models either.

It doesnt show that well but I used Testors Clear Parts Cement , added a drop to each gauge , then let it dry clear overnight and it really looks like the lens on the gauges. also I painted the push switch Red for the starter switch..little details that go a long way.. Chris

I sprayed the radiator Gold, the paint had gone bad, so I had to strip it down best I could and re-spray it Silver, ran out of Gold.. It came out OK It will look better when it is mounted in the chassis.. Chris

Since I was a kid I thought it was strange that the British race car builders were SO stuck on brass for radiators in race cars. Aluminum transfers heat better than brass. Copper is quite close to aluminum for that. But aluminum is SO much lighter than brass or copper and similar in cost and at least as easy to fabricate. These are all reasons why aluminum is now the standard material for race car radiators.

I had to cut two of the Scale production Oil coolers up and made one, they are printed on one side so I needed the cooler screen to be on front and back.. working on the rear suspension today, lots of Thin wall stainless tubing and rod ends being cut and made into suspension!! Chris

You're going overboard again in your striving for excellence! You have to stop this raising the bar. Between you and Art I may never build anything ever again!! Well...maybe not, but your work is TOO excellent!

I have been struggling with making these rear sway bar links and the sway bar inc. mounting it which drove me nuts due to the fact its very hard to attach stainless steel to painted plastic ( the kit molded in RED!!) but I figured it out and it looks like this, now to add the front upper links, already made but they mount through the radius rods and the shocks which is also nutz! more to come Merry Christmas Chris ps. note the u-joint cups!.... on the drive shafts!
