I have not build any kits for a long time now. With the quality of recent kits and parts along with inspiration from many model builders like AFX i have got back into building full time. Purchased some Model Factory Hiro Cobra Kits and warming up with some monogram kits first. Have many other kits to build like Chaparral's , Ferrari's and Lola t 70's . Hope forum members enjoy seeing them built.

Nice work on the batteries. How did you get the translucent effect?

Nice work on the batteries. How did you get the translucent effect? thanks robhart, translucent....refering to center cap on steering wheel ? i tried 2 part opoxy to replicate glass for dash gauges. it yellowed and was hard to work with. tried floor wax (pledge) worked ok but took forever to build up. found this product on-line art resin (artresin.com) mix 1:1 work time 45 minutes dries in 24 hours and full cure in 72 hours. it's user freindly and dries crystal clear. (2) 4 ounce bottles would last a life time depending on shelf life.

Thanks, but I was actually referring to the white battery cases. I wanted to know how you achieved the effect of seeing some of the internal structure through the exterior casing. Pre-shading perhaps?

Pre-shading perhaps? oh, nothing special just plain sheet of flat plastruct. made a small retangle shape and carved a center groove to make it look like 2 batteries, same for top of battery and cut plastic rod for caps.

ON your gauge glass, have you ever used "Testors Clear Parts Cement" I use it basically you put the decal , and ring on then using a toothpick over fill the gauge with it making a kinda bubble, when it dries it will be fully clear and at the same level as the ring.. I did that on the Lotus 49 dash attached.. no mixing and mess and it is really clear as you can see.. Chris

Chris, thanks for the tip. I have never tried Testors clear part cement. so far i happy with the Art Resin . i should have glue rings on gauges first and then applied Art-Resin or testors cement. still learning the best tricks.
