yes this project is still alive. i'm back at making new side exhaust and making a few special versions. one is cobra csx3176 it raced in almost stock form with no hood scoop, rear exit exhaust and sunburst wheels. filling side exhaust hole on that one and looking for correct wheels. the other one is cobra csx 3006 it raced with right hand drive conversion, white with yellow headlights. now i don't have a great picture , so maybe someone knows if black paint on top extended past the trunk area, as it looks in some pictures. hood scoop looks extended forward and maybe longer and restored version has 6 spoke halibrands like on a 289 comp car.

The new exhaust really blows the stock kit one away. The dash is coming along quite nicely. have you decided on what you're going to use for the clear glass on the instruments as yet? Joel

thanks Joel, i use a 2 part opoxy from artresin. a pic is one page 1 of this post. the gloss on center cap of steering wheel is artresin. it dries super clear, not like regular 2 part opoxy for bonding parts.(it tends to yellow )

Hard to tell in these photos where the stripe stops.

65slotcar, I do remember you saying something about epoxy. I've found that Pledge dries hard as a rock and clear enough. Also, the old stand by: Micro Krystal Kleer still works pretty well, but it's not super clear when dry.

thanks for the pic JC, the world registry listed car as hood and cowl painted flat black. to me it looks like gloss black and trunk area painted.

If I had to guess Bill I would stop the stripe at the trunk lid similar to what they did on the hood.

65slotcar, 11 Cobra bodies primed in one session. Now that's gotta be a record for sure. I love Gravity and Zero lacquer based primers too, as they lay down smooth as silk. But they're expensive to use in bulk. So just how many bottles did you go through? As for your equipment, your compressor really did some job.
The exhaust does look a little rough, but we're looking at a picture at least twice the real size so the issues are really exaggerated. I tried to get a better visual of the pre-painted exhaust in the overall picture. What I think is the issue is the filler to help blend one size pipe to the next? Epoxie Sculpt or a similar product would really help with this issue, as you can smooth and shape it with water during it's long drying time. I've used it a few times and it does work wonders.

yah 2 bodies are spares in case i screw up. used i large bottle 120 ml ZP 3001 with Iwata compressor and Iwata Neo airbrush. sidepipe could use some more sanding at joint. i use 5 minute opoxy to join pipes. they are suppose to look rough, just not at the seam
