Well Mr Brown... I found a Donohue Racemark seat for your Javelin at a decent price for what it comes with:
This kit should have the correct seat. It was originally the Mark Donohue driven, Roger Penske Team AMC Matador NASCAR Grand National/Winston Cup race car. Bobby Allison took over driving the car later and eventually bought the cars, then later raced at least one of them in NASCAR Sportsman, which is what this version of the kit represent. So the cars of the team started out with Mark Donohue's own brand of seat. The kit also correctly started out with Mark Donohue's brand of seat. AMT didn't change the seat (or much of anything else other than the decals, when they issued this version of the kit.

Well I was going to post some of my progress but, apparently I can no longer post photos so that kind of shoots that in the butt. ~Sigh~. I JUST cannot send good pictures, I tried, maybe when its done. Wow, that's really strange. Is the picture posting issues your host or the site not accepting them? And what issues are you having with taking good pictures? Maybe I can help. Joel

Hi Joel My cell phone. I cannot get them sized properly and when I try crop them that doesn't help much. My wife has a better phone some of the stuff prior was her doing.š I wanted to post some photos of my axle assembly, new scratch built roll cage and the chassis. This morning I painted my bumpers with Molotow Chrome (amazing results). I'm just pooh-poohed!š W.Brown, is the issue that the pictures are to small when you post them? What photo host are you using? Joel

Hello,
Nice progress. If you (or anybody else) need help with hosting pictures, you can email me them and I'll gladly host them for you. Don't worry about the size. I'll host them resized to a forum friendly 800 pixels width and provide a link for you to share.
Thanks, Ismael

W.Brown: I have found comparing my skills to others is sometimes humbling...but friends on these sites have taught me I am really only building for myself...therefore, the idea should be comparing my skills to what I have done before...so I know that I have improved! I have learned so much from other modelers that going back to years old builds is usually hilarious... Now as to detailing...some guys like to put on every single item that the original car had...I really enjoy seeing their builds, but on mine I usually put spark plug wires and thatās about it... In the immortal words of Sly Stone:āDifferent strokes for Different Folksā... So post those pictures! Show us your progress! Do it for YOUR own satisfaction! Tim

JC, A record to be proud of for sure.
Back in the 70s I was IPMS local and Regional contest crazy. That's basically what and why I modelled for. I judged my builds not on their individual merits, nor how I progressed, but how my builds did in competition. Well, needless to say I got burned out as modeling just wasn't fun anymore. So I took a really long break from modeling, like 30+ years. I've been back for almost 10 years now, and my personal modeling philosophy is all about the quality of my builds as judged by me. I do set modeling goals, but I keep them realistic and thus achievable. And Yes, I do enter a few contests every year, but my goal is strictly to see how my work measures up to others that I consider within my skill set.
I'm right there with JC with Enjoyment, and the friends I've made online who share my interests. After all, isn't that what a hobby is all about.

I have put on 40 shows/contests inc. 13 So. Cal NNl's, was the Head Judge for Herb Deeks Orange County shows, have judged at almost every major contest in So Cal. since 1985... and I have to say a lot of Judging is just chasing away Builders. I stop building competitively back around 2000. I detest the buddy system and have witnessed first hand the club effect and worse the Promoters suggestions.. I dont blame anyone but Trophy hounds, Poorly runs shows and contest and money hungry people. I am a low budget modeler, having bought many detail parts and accessories way back before I was forced to retire with a Spinal Injury, now I sell kits to get updated photoetch and such. I prefer to scratch build as I intend on showing on the AMRGT40 01 build. I have a set of GT40 blueprints, some friends at GT40.com and will go from there. I got the KA Models transkit only after selling some kits I have changed my interests in. A Opti-Visor has made huge difference as now I can see what I'm doing. A digital caliper and few other tools changed the way I build. I really dont know what the point other than than I have been there done it, but if a Trophy, magazine article or Peer Accolades is that important to your piece of mind then Hey Good Luck To Ya.. Ya know what since I started building truly for my self... My skills and Models have greatly improved and my Wife , Yolanda, my greatest supporter, is almost my biggest Fan and I cant ask for more.... My 1 1/2 cents.. Chris

Chris, Very well said. I've seen the club effect 1st hand, as it happened to me at the last Noreastcon Regional, but I really didn't much care. Like you said, way to many trophy hunters, and way to many throwing close calls to friends. But so be it. I much prefer building for me, and sharing it with you guys and friends.
Where you've got me is wife Support. My wife just lets me do my thing, but hasn't any real interest in my hobbies. And like you, since I've retired, my hobby budget has taken a hit for sure. Still, it just seems a lot more challenging living within a budget then buying everything, and just never building most of them.
Now I have a small stash of 12 kits or so, and use the philosophy of build one, buy one. Bits and Pcs over bought AM if really needed.

W. Brown, please go ahead and post your pics! Everyone builds at their own pace and skill level and most folks love to see what other members are doing. This forum is especially supportive and encouraging. The main thing is that you have fun. Regarding the comments about contests and such, I must admit my build quality has taken a small step back from what it used to be, because Iām now more concerned with fun than getting everything just right. I can thank my very expensive and time-consuming battle with Trumpeterās 1/32 F-100D for changing my attitude. I was never into contests, and only entered one just to get some of my fellow club members off my back. I won a 1st and a 2nd, and then told them, āOkay, been there, done that, now quit bugging me about contests.ā These trophy hounds in our club were, and still are, so over the top about contests that Iāve quit going to meetings. Iāve had 3 articles published in a modeling magazine over the years, but I did it to finance more model projects and because I love to write. My poor photography skills made the models look better than they really were. Ben
