Chris, You're skill level, like some of the others here is just amazing. I'm certainly not anywhere near you guys. So it's a lot easier for me to say go ahead and do this without really knowing just how hard it will be to do so. But for what it's worth, the tray around the Weber intakes is iconic, and leaving it off even with pictures to back that up just seems the wrong path to take.

I just posted a lot of pictures of Rex Myer’s AMR GT40 on the Model Cars magazine website. If someone wants to post a link or copy the pictures here that is fine with me. I am vamach1 on that site.
Better yet, email racecar2516@hotmail.com and tell Rex that Rex Turner at the Carlisle All Ford show spoke to him for about an hour. Rex Myers let me place my 1/43 Tenariv model on the roof of GT-1 and take a lot of pictures. I can forward the pictures I took if anyone wants them. Per a card he had with the car he noted it DNF’ed at Sebring in 1966 and was 4th fastest at the test days and was driven by Whitmore and Gardner. I did not realize the FIA would not allow the car to run at Lemans. Maybe Ford was afraid it would beat the MKII’s.
Lightweight alloy body panels Acrylic Lacquer paint Original Halibrand wheels and Goodyear bluestreaks Ford C6FE engine and ZF-1 trans Original Girling CR & BR calipers w MKII cooling ductwork Original MKII style rollcage Original British fasterners, hoses, clamps GQ safety harness
I could probably get Brad to cast those Gurney Eagle heads you modified if you are interested. I know I would buy a few sets myself.
