Nice work. The paint looks excellent. Beware of the Studio 27 decals. I've found that they don't adhere well or like to lay down over uneven surfaces.

Shayne, Great choice for a basically OOB build. Honestly, I'm not sure why all of us feel the need to explain or apologize for going OOB. yet I do it myself. I just appreciate a well built and finished model period. To me it's always been 100% basics 1st as it was drilled into my head during my years of IPMS contests.
Your gloss white coat looks darn near perfect. I'm a long time LC user, Gravity for specific colors, and Mr. Hobby/Mr. Color for other air brushing needs. I do use Mig & Tamiya paints for hand brushing. I've heard of the Tamiya LC paints, but never has seen them for sale in the USA. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them from?

Looks like BNA has the LP series Tamiya paints in 10ml at $3.28 a bottle plus shipping.. That is very inexpensive.. ship time to the US is probably about 10 days though.. I didnt see anyone here that sells it, just like the sprays I am sure the EPA will hold it up .... Chris

Chris Chris, I never understood why Tamiya decided not to bring in their lines of lacquer and enamel paints, yet they do that very thing with their aerosols. Makes zero sense. While I understand that the hobby world is moving away from Lacquers and enamels, there is still a huge market for it. If Mr. Hobby imports their lacquer paints and they're huge sellers as everyone carries both lines with Mr. Color for Acrylics. So the wait time by the EPA really makes less sense. I also order lacquers from Gravity of Spain who ships DHL Air, and I get my orders in 4 days time that includes my order day. Joel

If you remember the "Great TS-13 Gloss Clear Outage" of a few years or so ago, it wasnt a matter of Product availability but the problem was literally "Lost in Translation" problem where Tamiya had to update their label and the EPA wouldnt accept the way it was written... I spoke to a Tamiya USA Rep. at a show and they were having a heck of a time with the EPA on that. Once submitted it takes them forever to accept or decline it and then the translation didnt meet the standard, they had to start from scratch again.... down the road it became available.. Does that make sense? Chris

Once submitted it takes them forever to accept or decline it and then the translation didnt meet the standard, they had to start from scratch again.... down the road it became available.. Does that make sense? Chris Chris, Actually, it doesn't. My guess is that the Rep was instructed as to what to say by the powers to be. Honestly, a huge, and I mean huge Corp like Tamiya would have dozens and dozens of Attorneys in their Legal department that spoke better English then most of us. So the issue of "Lost in Translation" was a smoke screen. The version that I heard from a few well placed individuals within the industry, was that none of Tamiya's paint labels met our new consumer Haz Mat guide lines. Their Acrylic paints aren't water based, and are flammable. Therefore had to have the correct Haz Mat symbols, and warnings for the end user as well. And lets not forget that their shipping labels had to be redone as well to reflect exactly what was in those boxes/containers. Those labels have to be certified and approved. Which yes, does take time. So it's my guess that Tamiya 1st took care of their bread and butter acrylic paint line, which literally ruled the market. Then their aerosols. And while there was issues with rattle can stocks, I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of any issues with their Acrylic paint stocks. None of this explains why Tamiya doesn't allow Tamiya USA to carry their Lacquer based paints to this day. Unlike the laws that govern Corp Collusion here in the USA, it's quite the opposite in the Orient. So the odds are it could be a deal worked out over Tea by the major players in the industry. Many of the Oriental lines of paint that we have today are actually made by a few paint companies. Wouldn't it be surprising if Tamiya owns one or more of them. Joel

Thanks guys, Joel I’m in Australia and luckily we have access to most paints by the mainstream suppliers. Our local hobby shops have them in the shelves, yes BNA carries them and I think will post, your dollar is strong against the AUS dollar so they will be quite cheap even with postage.

So the decal fun begins... This is my first time with Studio 27 decals and so far so good. They nice and thin and for a sheet that is around 19 years old they are behaving beautifully. There are some large decals on this one so I’m taking deep breaths.

Love the paint job. I have yet to successfully paint a car white. Always pulls away from all the body lines. I am going to try again with my Golf. lol

Shayne, Sure seems that way. I've never used heat but just stronger setting solutions. But after seeing how you got those decals to conform to those curved surfaces, I'm going to buy a small hair dryer and learn how to use it for decaling.
