About 1987 my Dad gave me some kits that had been from Santa Ana Raceways, and one was a MPC 1964 Corvette, MPC's first kit they ever made, It had been damaged , looked like someone melted the rear deck ? I had looked for years for a suitable donor to graft in a new rear deck, most were very expensive or glue bombs, I did find a couple 50 cent parts bags with many assorted un-used parts, Dash, radiator, mirrors , engine parts etc. so I threw those in the box and continued my search, a year or so a go I found a suitable donor , it had several layers of terrible paint but it would work. I stripped it with Oven cleaner took a few tries but it came clean. This morning I decided to start the surgery, I started to cut the melted part out , forgot to take pics and then did so. and then I cut the donor out slightly bigger and will now slowly trim, cut and sand until the new deck drops right in. I plan on building a SCCA type car with mostly stock and racing parts, so more to come!!! some photos of the box and last for today an idea I kinda like. Chris

So it had a 427 ci engine, and ran those skinny rear tires. Sure must have been a handful

Sure must have been a handful Joel It would have run a Fuel Injected 327 in 1964 the 427 didnt come in until 1966 ( 65 was a 396 $43. option!)... note the Fuel Injection emblem. They used the steel wheels because the Factory Mags and ire wheels couldnt handle the torque. In 1978 when I started selling Tires and Wheels for a living, we were forbidden to sell Mags, Cragar S/S or two piece wheels for Corvette since they had a problem with Spinning the Centers Out!!! Yes, the 36 gallon option was available from '63 to '67, mostly intended for endurance racing. Thanks, Ismael

Absolutely one of my all time favorite Corvettes! The kit was so far above the AMT 63 and even has poseable front wheels. I built mine back in the day based upon a car raced regularly at Mid Ohio.
