I like this project, a clean build and well presented.
Back in the day, I often thought the Ford Falcon was neglected, but had great potential for the street scene. A mildly built 289 would've worked well, I'm sure. A local Ford dealer sponsored local drag racing teams, and often the dealership garage had guys working on the cars in the evenings. I liked going there to have a look, and to see up close the real team race cars, which were just immaculate.
They had a Falcon too with a nasty small block that ran well and was fun to watch.
I hope you don't mind me rambling on, I'm a new guy, and I like seeing cars I can relate to.
Looking good!
Mick..
Ramble away Mick, I like hearing about other's backgrounds and experiences. Glad you like the project. I'm also working on a '65 Falcon A/FX with a bit more grunt. The project is here: race-car-models.proboards.com/thread/1303/65-falcon-fx

Mick, Memories are what makes us better modelers, and modeling lets us finally live those memories.

Joel, well thought out. I agree. I think to even post a few pics of an older model, the memories are good ones.
afx, I have a look at the healthier version now.

Back from the dead. I want to replicate a base model Falcon so I removed all the chrome trim, also scribed in the missing front fender panel line through the door sill. Before:

Absolutely beautiful. Ford should have made a Falcon hardtop.
Funny, Ford made a Falcon into a Mustang and our intrepid JC made a Mustang into a Falcon. Go figure.
I love it. It would be happy beside my Gremlin, lol.

JC, Nice save on the wheels. You'd just never live it down to have Chevy wheels on a Ford. But the question still mulling around in my head is why not other then for the make? Both are 5 lug nuts patterns, or is the layout of them wrong? Molding wise, the Ford steel wheels do look crisper in their molding.

Really not much of a difference Joel between the steel wheels. A fellow modeler pointed out the molded blue wheels comes from the '58 Impala kit and since I had a spare set from the Thunderbolt kit I changed them out.

In the 1:1 world Ford and GM have different bolt circle diameters.

Paul, I kind of figured it was something like that. But for drag racing wouldn't they have axle converters as I can only imagine that the aftermarket parts would have their own dia. as well.

Joel Yes they do. But depending on how much HP you're putting through them, I'm not sure I'd trust most adapter plates.
There was a great company in Vaughan years ago that made 50 different varieties of billet aluminum wheels, they didn't bore the lugs and center hole until they knew what car you were bolting them on to - clever boys. But they're out of business now, the Chinese killed them.
I buy from ARE these days, they have something to fit most anything.

Paul, Thanks for that info. Figures that the Chinese killed that business.

arcticwolf...Yes, I agree. I think the Falcons were just neglected back then, and they had lots of potential, but probably too much work was needed as no performance options available.
I do like the body styles though and always thought a built small block would be real nice in there.
This is just a super clean model that I really like.

I'm a Falcon fan the 64-65 body style being my favorite but I like them all. The body is in primer at the moment.
