When I was younger, during the F5000 era, I was in the Southwest Division of the SCCA. Gus Hutchison started out in Formula A with a former Formula 1 Brabham, and then worked his way up to a full F5000 (can't remember the model).
I was working Timing and Scoring when they had a professional F5000 race at Dallas International Motor Speedway. Back before sound control and mufflers, those things were wicked sounding!

Oh heck yea!! That's when RACE CARS sounded like RACE CARS. Loved that sound, the speed, the lowprofile look. The wide rear tires and the little wide fronts. It was a very cool series for sure. I've got a few that I'm going to build using SILVER CITY'S Resin kits. Kevin has done a good job with capturing that whole look and feel of those cars.

Classic Carlectables created several F5000 versions, two styles of Lola T332 (air box only and full rear engine cover) and two styles of Matich (allegedly one with a BOP V8 and the other with a Chevy smallblock, but both engines look surprisingly similar in diecast).
Now ACME was acquired the molds and produced, to date, three versions on the full rear cover style, starting with the one pictured above. I also have a decal set and donor model to create the version driven by Black American Racers driver Benny Scott at Long Beach.
