Joel, Great job! Keep it up buddy you have me "pumped up" on my "little, pheeew" project. I am like you with the praise about Beemax these are VERY nice kits. Everything and I mean everything fits nice and neat into place, what they may lack in detail they sure make up for in fit and finish. Instruction booklet is nice though at times can be tough to comprehend, especially with all the numbers they throw at you for the color scheme on parts, same colors just a bit confusing all the numbers it takes for the same result. I must say you seem to have gotten that worked out. I find myself anxiously watching for progress on yours quite a bit, always worth the wait!! Bill, Thanks for the thumbs up, it's always greatly appreciated. At 1st I also found that Beemax's instructions and callouts for paint to be somewhat confusing as their paint chart has all the colors needed with callouts for Mr. Color Lacquer and Creos paints (which are very similar to Tamiya acrylics), and they just seem to rotate which type to use on a random basis. So I just got use to checking what color is recommended per part and labeling that part with the color needed as I study each step before actually working on it. This way I can use whatever type and manufacture paint I prefer for either Air Brushing or hand painting. And as you said, their instructions can be somewhat confusing with lines drawn that go behind a part so at times you question where it's actually glued to, but since I dry fit nearly everything, it's not a major problem. I do like how they list the optional Detail Parts Up kit, but since I didn't buy it, it does as some additional confusion to the build for an old timer like me. Joel

โThe fire extinguisher was primed then painted Tamiya gloss Red. The logo is a kit decal, and the aluminum hold down straps are Bare Metal Foil. I've had it forever, but always forget to use it, so it took a really long time to actually cut a single strip out without tearing it. Finally, I got the hang of it.โ You guys. Youโre teaching me how to think. CC, If my blog posts can help anyone, then the entire process is certainly worth it. After all, that how I've learned the vast majority of my modeling techniques. The rest of it came from personal screw ups, and just rushing without thinking it through. Back then I could have been the Poster Boy for the old expression: A Mind is a Terrible thing to Waste. Joel

Joel, you might have thought you wasted it but watching your build it shows something got through. Very nice so far. If you look at any build in progress even a old dog can learn new tricks. Watching for the next update. I was going through a box and found 2 908โs a 934, and a 917. After waching you Im going to chose one to build.

Joel, The 908โs one is a Union and the other is a orig Heller. The 917 is a Union and the 934 is a Ertl. I know I have others just not sure where they are. 400 plus kits so lotโs to go through.

Those 908s will be longtails with rooves, if Iโm not mistaken. I remember coming across them in my then-seemingly sysiphean 1/24th scale 908 K search. The Union offering may in fact be a rebox of the Heller kit, suggests Scalemates.

Still, I'm really interested in buying and building a 908 Long Tail for my Porsche collection. My favorite all time Porsche is the 908/3, but I've yet to find one in 1/24 scale.

Chris, I should have said a regular injection molded kit that I can actually afford. I've seen it several times and just drool over it, but like a few other of their kits, I'd have to win the lottery 1st to even think about it.

My bad Joel, I did not check my inbox but have your address now. I will get the Heller long tail in the mail and hope it can work out for you as a starting point.
