Time for a long overdue update. Been a very busy Fall as I have picked up Slot Car racing again, shows or races every weekend, and then the Holiday Sales rush. Finally have time to breath a bit. When we last saw our hero, the engine and interior was under construction. Much progress since then, so lets get started: I had to scratchbuild the Heater motor and Anti-Backfire Muffler (part of the Vacuum System). [/url]
I used styrene tubing, rod, and bolts from Grant Line (Model RR part company) going by photographs in my many books.
Here is the Heater Motor installed on the firewall.
And the Anti-Backfire Muffler installed along with the associated hoses.
Also installed are the Pulleys, Belts (made from tape), Fuel line from the Carburetor to the Fuel Pump , Alternator, Power Steering Pump, and the Smog Pump. The Smog pumps is missing (I'm guessing Monogram used a Boss 302 that had this system removed as none of it is in the kit, while the AMT '69 Mach One kit, issued in '69, does) so I had to scratchbuild this from Tubing and a Photo-etch pulley front.
Nice shot of the rear of the motor.
Oil Filter and Exhaust manifolds installed. All I can do until it's installed into the chassis.
Next up, the interior!

Super nice for 1/24th scale. I've always been a Mustang fan, although I must admit I'm glad the 70's interior look has become a thing of the past, but nice job of duplicating it.

Got a little more work done on the Mustang. Not much to really see but this little bit. I made and installed the two major wiring harness under the hood. I took Detail Master fine wire, assorted colors and twisted them together, gluing one end into the fire wall and routing around the sides of the Engine bay. I used Model Railroad Ringbolts to secure them to the walls. I followed the Mustang Restoration guide on their routing. The Drivers side one is for the Lights, Center one is the Ignition. Some other details to add. I will do the Shaker hood for this kit. I found an article from years ago on how to make the under hood reinforcement panel. It required making it using a vacuum form machine. I found mine (finally), so I will make the pattern and pop a few for future builds. That was the one piece that will hide the ugly underside of the Shaker hood conversion I have. The only other item I did was paint the washer bottle. Getting close to finishing up. Making the pattern for the under hood will take some time. Maybe by the End of February to finish it up.

Your Boss 302 engine is spectacular. A guy in our club owns that exact color Boss 302 too.

Time for an update! While most of you were able to get some well deserved time off and copious amounts of bench time, I was as busy as an one armed paper hanger with my mail order business. It has slowed down a bit as many are out of funds & awaiting the word to get back to work. So I was able to get some bench time myself for a change. I added the Photo-etched hood supports. These are a "one size fits all" set with very thick nickel plated steel. Very hard to use but nothing else available. They look the part very well, just have to figure out how to install them. I made a template and glued thin styrene to the mounting side and added pins to locate them into the fender skirts. I have also installed the Sport Mirrors, using .33 Brass rod to pin them to the body. I finally was able to get a good pull on my vacuum form machine for the underhood reinforcement made. The pattern was in an old FSM and a friend cut the pattern on his CNC machine from the modified artwork I made so it would fit the aftermarket hood. Added a photo-etch latch. Not quite happy with it yet. Still, it looks better than the stock kit part. I also installed the shaker scoop and fender bolts. Almost done!
