I'm not sure how old the fridge is but it reminds me of something from the Brady Bunch era so I assume it's not the most efficient thing on the planet. It took the landlord almost 3 months to get a washer fixed in the laundry room so I'm not holding my breath for a new fridge! It keeps my chocolate milk cold so that's good enough for me. I prefer a couple of coats of clear so that I can sand and smooth with less worry of breaking through the paint. There aren't any panel lines to speak of, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'll see which direction to go after the paint hardens up.

Mike_t, I've sanded through paint more times then I care to admit. Ok, almost always at one point, but with each model build I've worked on my technique and got better at it. Less is more. 3,000 grit wet for primer coat only. With paint I start at 6,000 wet, 8,000 wet, 12,000 wet. Even starting at 8,000 wet will work on fairly smooth painted surfaces. If you've got a lot of Orange Peel, then step down but go easy with plenty of water.
You'll see a huge difference in your paint when you get the surface smooth as silk. After decaling the gloss coat is much easier to rub out, then polish, and finally wax. What you'll end up with is a mile deep smooth as silk shine. If you have a rough painted surface, that will effect the gloss coat to some extent where you have a good gloss shine, but the deep effect is limited or not that at all. I can certainly attest to that issue.
There are guys here that produce that finish time and time again. I'm not one of them, but it's my goal with each build to have a better finish then the model build before it.

Scored a day off work thanks to hurricane Dorian (all's well so far) so took the opportunity to lay down some decals before the power goes out! Taped the panels together for a little mock up to see how she looks. Pretty happy so far!

mike_t, Looks fantastic. So something good has come out of Dorian. Who would have thought it was possible.

Nioce looking! Are you really through the chassis build already? Amazing!
Never mind... I see it is just tires sitting next to the body. Those tires look amazing as well!

Not even close, Pat. I got some paint and decals on the body but that's it. I'm still waiting for the photoetch stuff to show up. Most of it involves chassis, drivetrain, etc. so I didn't want to get into building anything, only to find out I needed to add aftermarket stuff 4 steps ago! I'm getting a little antsy over the photoetch...I've been waiting 4 months now!!

Four months is a long time! What does the vendor have to say about it? I'd be antsy as well. As you can tell on my thread, I have my good days and my bad... but I have found a solution to the minor "holidays" in my red paint (in theater, any unpainted spots are called "holidays" as in "Oh I see you and the paint took a holiday right there..."). A red Sharpie is just about the correct color to make very minor corrections. It may be cheating but if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying hard enough (Harry Hyde).

You`re doing it right, Mike. It doesn`t say A Prost on the car.

I won't disagree, Paul. I'm a much bigger fan of Mansell than I ever was of Prost.

Four months is a long time! What does the vendor have to say about it? I'd be antsy as well. Excuses.... "I'm behind on everybody's orders", "My family has been keeping me busy", "Had to get my kid settled in college", "Everyone in the house was sick".....The worst part is, he said on more than one occasion, things like "I just need to finish packing it and it will be out the door this week", "I'll finish it up this afternoon and overnight it to you"...on and on. I'm about ready to pull the plug and get Paypal involved. I sent the man over $500.00 and have absolutely nothing to show for it except a Gmail box full of bullsh*t.

mike_t, You've given him way more time then he deserved. A week or two is about it before I get PayPal involved. Once that they're involved they will contact him and he gets 30 days to complete the transaction or you get you money back.
For a $500 order he should have busted his butt to complete it. Sounds more like just stalling you off as he doesn't have all of it.

... Sounds more like just stalling you off as he doesn't have all of it. Joel And that's fine, if that is the case. And if it is, just say so. I don't need the excuses. I know there has been issues with these guys before and it seems everybody was happy in the end but again, if it's going to be 3 months before it ships, just tell me. No need to add fuel to the fire.

Mansell may have been a bit of a pain but from a fan's point of view he was fun to watch, should have had more than one title in my opinion. While Prost may not have been "exactly a likable individual", Mansell was a far greater PITA. And his post race career has not been very noticeable. Most interviews, if they are allowed, show a bitter and cantankerous Mansell as opposed to Prost who is still involved with F1 at Renault. I liked them both... I will say it here but I was not an Ayrton Senna fan nor did I much care for Michael Schumacher. I found them both very unlikable and rather arrogant. They were both given great talents and were far too self-involved. I am not saying karma is involved but both came to sad endings as if to say "Well, I had it all but I couldn't take it with me, after all." Red 5 was my favorite of not just Mansell but Terry Labonte as well!

Just to add my nearly worthless 2 cents. I distained Senna for his driving style of win or try to wreck the guy in front. Hence, the shunt with Prost, his disqualification as winner, and I believe Prost went on to win that year's championship. Schumacher was to a great extent the reincarnation of Senna. Needless to say I wasn't a fan.
I did like Prost just for his "wars" with Senna. And Mansell was a personal favorite. Yes, he rarely gives interviews, and has almost nothing to do with racing. His passion once he was a accomplished F1 driver was and still is Golf. I've even seen him at electronic shows on You Tube where he sat down at the latest racing game, took one practice lap, and destroyed the full field of drivers (not AI).
That period of high almighty seems to have finally dissipated as F1 has seen the light as has Indy Car with the accessibility of the drivers to the fans. The new crop of drivers seem way more personable then we've seen in many a year. For me, the class of the mid to late 60s were always accessible to the fans at Watkins Glen.
