I admit when I screw up, reluctantly but I do and I will. Well I am applying the amazing amounts and types of decals on this project, the DHL logo is applied to each side of the car. I placed the drivers side no problem, I moved to the passenger side, applied some solva set obviously too much and stretched them....badly. Contacted ZoomOn and they have replacements for $65.00!!!!! At least that is what I thought until PayPal squared me away,DOH!!!! I forgot about the exchange rate.....$8.92 shipping included from China. SO back to my initial question....HOW CAN I REMOVE DECALS?? There are actually others im considering. I have reference from a finished model and instruction sheet totally different so there are things I need to pick up on my own and haven't. 4 sheets of decals!!! Plus. There are extras that I have no idea why unless its different racing venues.

If I don’t need to try to salvage the decal, I put some scotch tape over it, burnish it down, and then pull it off. Most or all of the decal usually comes off. Sometimes it will take several tries to get all of the bits. Since you used Solvaset, you might be in the same boat I was in a few weeks ago. The decal wouldn’t come off, and I ended up having to very carefully scrape it off with a sharpened toothpick. I still managed to damage the paint. So basically, start with the method least likely to damage the paint and then go from there. The nuclear option would be to sand it off.

Thanks ben. I knew about the scotch tape method I was hoping there was a new better mousetrap. I am basically lazy and didn't want to go down that road but I'm afraid it's inevitable.

Bill, Masking tape works as well. But don't use Tamiya tape. Way to expensive for that, and it has less adhesive then masking tape. Joel

Try brushing MicroSet on the decal, wait a bit, rub it off. Repeat as required. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it won't do any damage.

use a bit of lacquer paint retarder on a qtip, working in small circles over top of the decal. This will soften the topcoat and eat through the decal. If done carefully you will be able to easily remove the decal, but in turn, destroying it. If you want to recover the decal, that's a bit trickier. You need to use the clear scotch tape method, lightly score/cut around the decal, mask a few millimeters around and then use the paint retarder method to eat away at the paint and then pull off the decal using the clear tape. Your clear tape will now become your new decal and when reusing it you will need to clear coat it and sand it down so the edges disappear.
