Looks very nice, the additional lighting helps to see the detail.

Arcticwolf, Thanks for the answer to my question. Strange that Tamiya nor Ebrro on their 1/20 scale Lotus 49 family has that recess on both sides, just the shift lever side, I wonder why?
Wow!! The full chassis looks fantastic. As for what to do about those screws, how about mixing some of the body color paint with White glue and layering on top of the installed screws. It would help to blend them into the body or go with Aluminum so they look more like fasteners. But you'd still easily be able to remove them if ever needed.

Hi Joel Siffert's actual cockpit (the car is fully restored and owned by Geoff Farmer, still historically raced last I heard). I don't know for sure if Clark's car had the left side cutout but I believe it did. Also note the steering wheel offset to the left to give more room for the shifter action.
Cheers mate

Well, its done. It was a bit of a struggle and I made a few mistakes, but I think I managed to fix them or hide them. Overall I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out/ It's very fragile, just the nature of a 49 in plastic, so it will be on display, but not to be handled too much. If I do another one I'd go with the Ebbro kit, I think its more accurate, and a lot more modern of course. But I learned a lot. My next trick is to try to duplicate this kind of detail into the 1/20th kits. Here she is:

Wow. Excellent job, sir! Sounds like it might have been a bit painful here and there for ya but damned if she didn't turn out good!

Arcticwolf, Your build is truly impressive for sure, especially when one considers that it's the old Tamiya kit. And thanks for posting those pictures. I never saw any pictures of the offset of the wheel before, and can only see it in the head view.
I've got the Ebbro kit and the Indy Cal decals. So hopefully one of my Lotus 49 builds will be this coming winter.

Arcticwolf, The old F1 cars have so much soul and the drivers had big ones. These are the cars I feel in love with back then. You have build a fabulous model of a great car. Rob Walker was a gentleman racer and his cars always looked so good. The 60’s era was a Great time to be a fan. Your skill in this build shows throught.

There are a few flaws in her but overall I'm quite proud of how she turned out - I surprised myself! In retrospect, I could always have quit complaining and just bought the MFH Siffert Lotus kit. That's a joke, at about $800.00 not happening, lol. By the way, Joel, the MFH kit has cutouts on both sides of the cockpit, and a Hewland box, so I guess you do get what you pay for. Thank you everybody for your kind comments, very appreciated.
And cc, I couldn't agree more. Siffert especially had big ones, and a very nice man. His death, though tragic did lead to a lot of safety improvements, like on board fire extinguishers and oxygen supplies.
thanks again

Paul, I only saw Siffert drive the Walker car once in 1967 at Watkins Glen, and then again at the 12 hours of Sebring the 1969 driving a factory Porsche 980/3 (?). He pushed that car harder in the corner off the pit straight then any other car as I still remember it, as you could see the car literally hop around it.
