Chris, So Tamiya got the old Revell molds from Studio 27 and then molded the kit for them? This is really a super sleezbag deal. As you said for $70, the kit should of had some PE, and resin parts. And if it's just the Revell Cart kit, then the engine/trans/suspension isn't even Tamiya's. Betcha the decals aren't even by Cartograf.

OK I have been busy on this , and so far I have the basic engine built, a lot of RB Bolts on the Slide injection as well as throttle return springs ( photo etched ) the Cam Covers got R B Bolts also the Tub had to painted semi-gloss black to allow me to cover the entire outside with Carbon Fiber, had to do a few patches around the transition at the front of the cockpit due to the multiple radius' involved but I got it and laid down some gloss clear lacquer on it , next the seat and dash, more on that later. If the winds would die around here this would be going much faster, it is hard to paint when the daily average is 25mph to 65mph winds. That's it for my first update ...more to come.. Chris

Off to a great start! I'll be following this one closely. Might inspire me to actually crack one of mine open and get to work! Very interesting cars, not much reference material available. I'd love to see a video of them racing!

Chris, As usual your work level is just out of sight. the engine details are simply amazing. From what I can see the CF decaling looks fantastic. Looking forward to your next update.
Just one question about the winds and your work shed. I thought that you had installed an exhaust system so that you don't have any open windows. So why the concern with the winds, unless you're worried about the shed in those higher mph winds.

Joel, It doesnt matter how well you seal a out building, the desert has a ton of very fine dust, the shop has drywall and seals on the door and a cover up vent as well as a heater, but around here when the windy is gusting 30 to 65mph almost daily this time of year its not a winning proposition to take things out there for paint. Its 12 x 16 and the build up of fumes even with the spray booth running is also a fire hazard. So I try and paint as much as possible on a calm day. I will have some days this coming week , around 5 mph that should be good for painting, so right now I have about 60 % of the kit, suspension, interior and assorted small parts on the desk removing mold lines and smoothing as well as removing factory bolt heads and drilling for RB and TM bolts after paint and carbon fiber decals. Its a tedious process but worth it.. Chris

Chris, I just didn't realize those issues when you live in sandy/desert areas. Here, our major concerns are weather related, especially to major super killer Hurricanes, and Noreast'ers in the winter. We've lost one home to fire, had a tree go right through the garage roof, and seen homes in our area crushed from huge trees and massive winds.

Yes, I am working on it right now, interesting kit...Its a March F3000 chassis so all the suspension some of the Mugen/DFV are not the same as the standard Tamiya F-1 kits. I actually had to redo the trans-axle because I assumed it was the same but No the assembly was way different. I spent the last week drilling out all the molded in bolts on the rear suspension and replacing them with T2M and R B Motion bolts . I finished the dash and had the seat assembly in my hand last night to remove the molded in Fire bottle so I can replace it with an aluminum one. Photos to come.. Chris "No Pressure, Right Brian!!" Lol

No, definitely no pressure! Just a kit you don't see very often and I'm very interested as I have a couple.

That would have made a nice single seat Can Am car. Just replace the Cosworth with a 305 Chevy. Nice looking car, should make a good looking model.

M2, check the Shelby Can Am series cars, i dont think they were v8 powered but along those lines.. Everybody, I got Smacked with this HEAD COLD or What ever and havent touched anything for a week. I have lots of parts in process but they are just sitting there until I get over this! They say it lasts a week and I'm close so I am betting it will go away soon. I am so over chicken noodle soup, warm 7up and crackers.. I need some Class A Mexican food in my system.. Chris
