Revell 1/24 cast metal slot car in Narrow and Wide, they're hard to find (I've got one set) used to have both. Look on eBay, also they're in one of the early 427 Cobra kits.

That would be great if 3d makes them. Pretty sure they were not in any R/M kit and the resin ones online are pricey and the customer service reviews do not match the company name.

Ah, there you are! I'm still getting used to finding Threads and Posts. OK, AS OF THIS MINUTE 10:45 PM 16 May 2020 on eBay right now there are AT LEAST FIVE AMT Shelby King Cobra kit number 793/12 (yellow 289 Cobra, with snakeskin box art) that has a set of 4 Shelby "Sunburst" mag wheels, the ones you are looking for! Get a couple kits ASAP they are all pretty good prices. I KNEW I HAD THOSE BEFORE from that kit! Has a set of Goodyear Blue Streak (no blue streak)tires. If you get one or two kits take a photo of the wheels AND tires and post on this thread. Let me know how you do. Get Crackin'!

thanks for the reply and looking out for wheels. i just happen to have 2 of those King Cobra kits. a little bit of false advertising from Amt. the side of box does show Halibrand racing wheels. The kit has 3 sets of wheels, wire wheels, american torque thrust and a third set that does not resemble any halibrand i know of. plus i don't believe a 289 cobra ever came with Sunburst wheels.

I belive they are intended to be the Halibrands that Studebaker used.

Been burning out my eyeballs tonight on this matter. The chromed mags in your photo are in fact "Cobra" team mags if you strip the chrome you will see that in photos on all the Shelby team cars the center hub tapered to a cone hub which the photo of the Halibrand on this thread is flat. You can see this cone hub better on the Daytona coupes. So it is a legitimate wheel. Now concerning the "Sunburst Wheel": the box art on ONE of the yellow 289 on eBay says "Sunburst" while the same box (I think a new repop with stickers on front) says "Halibrand". And the mags inside are the ones of your photo, the chrome really distorts the cone hub. However, Number 3: The early, early AMT 289 has a set of Halibrand "Kidney Bean" slotted mags that the early 260 engine Team cars ran. The five spoke American mags were run primarily by Privateers as they were quite a bit cheaper than Halibrands. All this I verified tonight by whats on eBay. I even bought some more tonight even though I don't need any more Cobra stuff (still want a better 289 than what AMT provides) any good candidates?

Just received two 1/25 "Sunburst" wheels seller said were from an 66-68 Mustang GT kit. They are slightly different and narrower that the Revell slot car wheels which I like better So, they're out there.

I did not realize the King Cobra kit had the older style Cobra mags on the chrome tree.

It seems AMT, changes the accessory molds depending what is hot at the time. I've seen them update a mold (58 mm Weber's on various Corvette's)and change the entire thing, sometimes not for the better. With the "Ford vs. Ferrari" movie interest I hope they update the Cobra and Ford GT kits, it would be easy to put the slotted vents in the front fender, flare the rear wheel well and maybe do a cut back door on the 289 and I need some new decals (Sebring 63). An accessory parts pack would be a new idea.
