Hello, So the baddest Corvette of them all, the mighty C7 ZR1 has never been offered in a plastic scale model. What a shame! The C7 Corvette generation in general has not been kitted. Only the snap Stingray. I fear we'll be in the same situation with the C8 and C8R but that's another topic. So I either had to wait forever or get creative. You know where this is going. The only starting point in 1/24 - 1/25 scale would be one of those cheap diecasts. MotorMax finally released the ZR1 in 1/24 scale. Typical diecast, the paint is bad, the door gaps are ridiculously huge, mirrors are cast into the doors, the rear spoiler is a joke, the wheels are a tad undersized, the interior is a joke... and I can fill a page of wrong things with it. But: I told myself "It is what it is! Shut up, Suck it up and jump in!" Is it even worth a try with so many great kits I have started or about to start? Why not? I've never claimed to be normal. So here it is: Grilles are molded in... ouch! I like the stripper.... wait, that doesn't sound right. The stripper did a good job quickly... no wait... that doesn't sound right.... whatever! So here is where I am now. Several other projects are on the bench so I'm not sure how quickly I'll work on this one, but it is officially started. By the way, does anybody has a set or Revell's C7 Corvette mirrors? Thanks, Ismael

Ismael I have the strangest feeling, knowing how you kinda like Corvettes, that this will turn out just fine. I have never delved into cast metal before (soon will be on some of the stuff on the Jaguar XJR-14) but just scanning over the stripped body, there seems to be a LOT of "Ismael step-up-improvement areas"! In the short time I have made your acquaintance, studying your builds and your adaptability to the situations, this is going to be a nasty little beast!

Hello, Mr Dremel was here! Funny how I am doing metal bodywork on a model of a plastic real car. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? Thanks, Ismael

Hello, With so many started projects and so many excellent kits, why am I wasting my precious little time in a sub-par turd of a project? I have no idea! Lost count of how many hours used in this door. No pictures but below that primer there are dozens of little styrene strips glued here there and everywhere, superglue, putty and what not to make it halfway decent. Just as a reference, here is the other side, still untouched. Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Not there yet but moving in the right direction. The passenger's side door required far more work than the driver's side. Hello, Thanks, Ismael

Thanks JC!
The passenger door is putting up a fight. There was a very slight warp that had to be dealt with. Contrary to the Viper, the strategy here is to glue the doors shut so I won't have to deal with them separately. It may require some minor modifications to the interior but nothing big.
Thanks, Ismael

Looking great! I’m taking notes for if/when I get around to trying this on a metal Lotus Elise I picked up off eBay.

You obviously have a lot more patience than I, Sir. I would have melted it down into an ingot long ago. Good luck!!

Hello, There were two big holes in the back for the spoiler. That has been addressed and no longer there. Molded emblems (front and back bumper's center) were sanded down. No longer there. Thanks, Ismael

Ismael You are a magic man. I have a feeling you've done this kind of thing before very nice indeed. Are you still using the Plastikote T-235? Not an easy thing to find around here. If so I really like the way it finishes out.

Thanks Bill! This one is actually T237. Same primer but white. Why? I ran out of T235 grey. I love this stuff! I need to start looking around for more. I only have two more cans of white. And I can go thru a can in a single project. Very hard to find now. Thanks, Ismael
