Gentlemen, and ladies, if there are any present....
I have an opportunity to buy a few kits at a decent price, or at least what I think is decent. However, they are mostly manufacturers that I haven't built: Protar, Academy and Hasegawa. I'm familiar with the names, just never built any of their F1 offerings. Before I "invest", I thought I would put out some feelers and get some real builders opinions as to the quality, etc. Price wise (in Canadian dollars), the Protars are 1/24 for 25 to 30 each, The Hasegawa are mostly their figures at 15 a kit and the Academy's are going for 60 for 1/20 scale. I'm usually a Tamiya buyer and believe they have pretty high quality so that would be my yardstick, as it were.
Just a general yay or nay will suffice, however, if you want to point out the good and bad, I'm all ears...or eyes, in this medium, I guess.
Thanks!

I've built Hasegawa rally kits and hey are very nice. Haven't built any of the other manufacturers.

Having never built any F1 other than way back when (and they were mostly Tamiya offerings), I really can't say about the Hasagawa and the Academy kits but back in the day, Protar made great kits. I thought they were actually a step ahead of Tamiya when it came to screws at crucial places and actual construction. Protar is now owned by Italeri.
The Academy sounds a little pricey to me...
That's the best I can offer! Cheers, mate!
