The Stratos is one of my all time favorites. Anxious to see what livery you have chosen Rob.

This brings back it to me, when I was standing in the middle of no where in darkest Wales in the early 1970s following the RAC rally now (Rally GB ) Me and my best mate George heard this loud popping and bagging and could see the light's chasing between the tree's. I remember saying to George that doesn't sound like an Escort ,and a few seconds later this Stratos came flying past us with its Ferrari engine on fall song , as it went by it kicked up mud and stone's at us .I did have a cassette tape of it but it was lost year's ago , bit of a shame .I think it was the Checkered Flag entrant. Looking great, Rob. Are the belts from the kit?

No, the seat belts are KA models photo etch hardware, red masking tape, and Studio 27 decals.

Rob, Excellent start.
I've never been a Rally modeler, as it's not exactly a major sporting event here on the East coast even when they did allow Rally's. So I just never build any models of those cars. But you guys are starting to peak my interest for sure.

Well, unhappy news to report. The decals were an epic fail (I hate decals anyway). They wouldn't conform and split when I pushed the issue. Undeterred, I masked and sprayed the stripes. After a few touch ups the ones on the roof, wing, trunk, and sides looked pretty good. However, I could not manage an acceptable result with the stripes going over the multiple rows of louvers on the hood. The area that needed to be masked was very small and the spaces between the louvers were too tight to thread masking tape or BMF through resulting in wavy and indistinct color separations. After several tries, I decided to look for a livery that did not have graphics running across the louvers. I found one and ordered the decals from Spot Models, but they are giving me a six week shipping time estimate so look for this WIP to resume around early summer. I HATE DECALS!

Rob, Sorry to hear that. I belong to the other club: I love decaling most of all. It's my favorite part of model building.
I can attest tot he min of a 6 week wait from Spot models. I just got my Audi GT3 Nunu kit and it took 1 day shy of the start of the 7th week. 3 weeks in Spain and 3 full weeks with the USPS parcel post that had my kit all over the Northeast needlessly. Spot models should bite the bullet and make shipping via UPS or Fed Ex with reasonable prices. They were asking for 1 model to go UPS $47.
