Work has begun on the Eagle guys ... and I laid out all the parts that I need from the Revell Donor kit. The Revell parts are not the greatest I've seen from Revell kits, however I can manipulate them and add to as well.
First steps will include drilling out the suspension holes with the smallest drill bit in my set - just to make sure that once all the paint coats have been applied there is still ample space for the suspension ends to fit in nicely.
I will have to dremel out both the tub and decide how to handle the solid intakes.
I filled the body line on the left side of the chassis because it only came with a left side panel line - which I'm fine with because I feel at this scale a panel line isn't true to it's real proportion ... and I've never been a fan of panel lines on anything less than 1/18 visually.

I will have to do a Mock-build of the entire model before anything sees any primer - that's a must.

Interested, as I'm going to try turning a much older Eagle into an F5000 car one of these days (hint: in keeping with my Canadian driver hall of fame theme).
What Revell donor kit is this? I would have thought AMT? or Monogram? myself. Or is this a Reynard base?
(I've never even heard of this car until now).
good luck
Paul

You know what Paul I think you are right - I think it's AMT - I'll check it when I get home tonight and update you. I don't think Revell ever did an Indy model though I may be wrong on that one.

I knew I wasn't going crazy lol .. it's the Revell Reynard AAR kit - shown below - hence the amount of scratch that's going to be involved.

I wondered if it was a Reynard. I built a Revell F1 kit once, I hated it. Wishing you better luck with this one.

The Revell Reynards are pretty labor-intensive. I've built 4 of them over the years and have another partially finished one in my stash. I guess I'll pull it out and finish it while I'm waiting for my next project kit to arrive from Japan. I don't know what the heck I was thinking that I needed more than one of these!

Bottom line? I think this is going to be a 3 to 4 month build guys...
3 to 4 months? Why so fast? That's pretty standard for me lately.

I built a Revell F1 kit once, I hated it. What didn't you like about it? I got the Revell McLaren MP4/12 in a trade. I haven't touched it yet. Was going to look for the correct decals but if it's that bad, maybe I'll not bother.

Recently, I built my wife a 53 Ford pick-up and I am glad I had two kits because the fit was so bad. The windshield was really bad and the parts fit. What Revell doesn't tell you in the instructions, I think Dragon makes up (so the world really is in Modeleostasis... inside joke there). I've never met a Revell kit I liked... from the 1/32nd F-14 right down to the 53 Pickup truck.

Was going to look for the correct decals but if it's that bad, maybe I'll not bother. I've built several Revell trans am cars, see the threads about the JPS Mustang that Joel and I posted for some horror stories. But now that I know what to look out for, and mostly to ignore the instructions, you can build a nice model from them. I'll be posting a Camaro build soon, you might want to check in on that.
The F1 kit was the Villeneuve Williams, 1/24th scale, only because nobody else makes that car. Nothing fits properly, and it can not be assembled the way the instructions tell you - literally throw them out and figure it out from scratch, you'll be better off. I have another kit still sealed in a box if anybody wants it, lol.
I think the main problem is Revell's quality control, some kits are OK and some are just hopeless - warped bodies are common. Or maybe I'm just spoiled from working with Tamiya and Fujimi.
I like their parts as a basis, and you may be fine with the resin body, but a lot of improvising is in your future!
Good luck buddy.

Well you guys have certainly given me some food for thought ... maybe I should consider trying to make the Tamiya Lola kit fit the Eagle. It's tamiya and the suspension parts for the most part are very similar - but I'd have to buy the Tamiya Lola and in spect it before I would know if it's doable.
Having said that I've never been on e to she away from a challenge

Having said that I've never been on e to she away from a challenge Tamiya Lola kits are expensive, and they're 1/20th scale.
I've been trying to find a deal on one for years.
