Looking great. I'm really surprised you were able to pull off spraying lacquer over enamel. I really liked Ron Fellows, a Canadian ( not his fault! LoL ) and your right he should have won at least one Trans Am Championship.. Strange ...driving a Red/White and Blue car for a Team called American Racing? Guess someone had a problem with that! The current crop of Testors Ultra Clear Coat #1834 Lacquer can be sprayed over just about anything! It is a fast/cool thinned clear that is more like a spray plastic coating , for lack of descriptive words. I use over everything I want shiny. I usually will use it on the Window parts too, it has a UV Blue Tint to it when sprayed on windshields and such. Just a small tint of blue from the UV protectant is actually kind of cool. It will also protect the clear parts from scuffing and scratches and will help fill micro scratches for a better looking end result. It also works with 90% of the decals out there, which 10% that it eats thats your guess! Fear not if you let your Enamels and Acrylics cure it will not harm them and give a great finish. My 1.5 cents worth.. Chris

Paul, Sorry to hear that your condition has flared up. Hopefully it will be under control and then remission ASAP. Nothing is more important then health. Believe me, I only know that all to well.
As for your Ron Fellow's Trans AM Camaro, you nailed it. WOW!! The finish is just 1st rate: smooth, glossy, no orange peel, and a nice deep shine.
What I don't understand is your concern of the Testors Glosscoat over the Testors enamel paints. Like you said, 50 or so years ago, that's all we really had. Testors or Pactra little bottles of enamel paint. True, I used nearly all Matt paints for my military aircraft models, but I never let them dry for more then a few days before gloss coating to decal, and never had a single issue. Was there that much of a difference in drying and curing times for their Gloss paints?
And as we've discussed a few times, the Revell two piece bodies are a true nightmare. On my Roush Ford Mustang, I got the front clip close after painting, but just never close enough to even consider displaying it with it on. The Mustang Whale Tail kits like the Folger's car is one piece with a opening trunk lid. I'd rather fore go engine detailing for a better display model. I also have the Camaro and just seeing the 2 pc shell, I crossed it off my list. But after seeing how you handled it and with a removable shell, I've got hopes once again about getting it built one day.

Hi Joel. Thanks for the kind words. I don't know whats going on, but I know I don't feel right and things aren't working like they're supposed to. Just have to wait and see how it goes for the moment.
Testors paint, I've used it for years. I still have a good supply of their enamel spray cans. The paint takes weeks to cure properly, but if you are willing to wait it produces a nice finish. The Testors lacquer enamel will not harm it, if the enamel is cured properly and you are gentle with the clear coat - first a light mist or two, let it set overnight at least. After that its lacquer over lacquer so no worries. I have one can of Testors Glosscoat left, wish I could find more, I'd take it over Tamiya if I could.
Those AER decals are Slixx, as always with them they are a dream to work with and never any problems. They were applied over 2 coats of clear, and then two more coats on top of them. I'm happy with the end result, just takes patience. Work on something else while you wait, but I've always got 2 or 3 projects on the go at once anyway.
My next job is more involved, I'm going to try building a Trans Am Corvette using parts from the Revell Trans Am kits. Wish me luck!
Cheers and thanks again Paul

Chris, I'm with you on what you said. Some teams want drivers from their own country, we do it up here too, but the good teams I think only care if you're quick or not. Penske would hire a Martian if he thought he could win. And I think blue and white look good on a car! Ron Fellows had ties to GM and AER for many years. He had a handshake deal with Dale Earnhart to run a DEI cup car full time, but it was cancelled when Dale was killed. Who knows what would have happened career wise if fate hadn't intervened. Ron and Dale Jr are quite good friends.

Looking great. I'm really surprised you were able to pull off spraying lacquer over enamel. Just don't try Tamiya lacquer over enamel, its basically paint stripper!

Just don't try Tamiya lacquer over enamel, its basically paint stripper! Yes, I've heard from a lot of sources that it is very hot. I didn't realize that Testor's was cool enough to spray over lacquer.

Paul, I only know all to well when things start to get kinda out of wack. Just take care, and know when it's time to call your doctor or the EMTs.
