It might be after you start building it! Ever done an IMC kit before?

But I know what you mean.

But I know what you mean. I've never built up an MC kit before. Are they that tough to build? Just looking at them in the box they look like a pretty decent kit. Surely they can't be as difficult as straightening out kits like some of the old Revell Molds.

Way ahead of their time, detail-wise. Crappy tires will eat your wheels in a surprisingly short time. Markings not too accurate, but we have many choices now. Some minor fit issues, but mostly just very fiddly assembly. I built several as a young teenager and they came out pretty decent (for the times). Still have two of them.
And yes, Paul, I too enjoy a challenge! I've just gotten a little spoiled to modern quality kits.

Union have a Chapparral and a Lola T70 kit, I'd like to get my hands on both if I could. Actually two T70's, I need a base chassis for another job. Many years ago, but I built a couple of their Porsches, they weren't that bad. Yeah, I seem to recall they were a bit ill fitting, but we have ways, as they say! They do pack a lot of detail into the scale.

The Union Porsches and Ferraris are all old Heller molds. Pretty much the same fiddly builds as an IMC kit. Chaparral and Lola are old IMC kits. The Chaparral is, IMO, by far the best of the old IMC series.

I did them along with a Monogram 904, it was a nightmare as I recall.
But I did build a Ford J-Car kit, pretty sure that was an IMC. Anyway my new Ford MK2 kit looks pretty good in its box so we shall see.......

Justin So far in the MK-II I have found I have some bagged 1/24 Revell MK-II's (re-boxed Fujimi curbside though ) I got a while back, that I could put together a complete kit , A 1/25 Union MK-II GT40 mint. The Fujimi's I am looking at are all MK-I Those I got to do the Alan Mann GT40 AMR 01/02 build. I still need to check further ,but I get so burned out quickly because of the Stroke I had in Dec. I cant seem to make head way in the Shop on the side of the house.. So I dont want to say I dont have a Fujimi MK-II because I may actually have one, I thought I did .. I did find 2 IMC MK-II's but those are probably not complete since I combined parts to build the DOHC MK-II .. I even found the 1/16 GT40 project I put aside a year or so back, its almost all scratchbuilt even the engine has been mostly scratchbuilt. About 1/2 the way through that project then I put it on the shelf. I will let You know if I find what you asked for.. Chris

It might be after you start building it! Ever done an IMC kit before? Brian As I have mentioned on the Model Cars forum, the IMC/Testors/Union kits have accuracy and fitment issues. Given that they were designed in the 60's but with engines, opening front, back and doors and there hasn't' been another kit in the last fifty years to attempt the same features, I have not written them off yet. HRM, Thunder Valley, and other companies have provided improvements to the Fujumi kits and there are some expensive out of production resin kits without engines but what us GT40 enthusiast have been yearning for is an accurate kit with an engine for decades. The WIX 1/24 diecast seems to fit the bill except it does not come in kit form and of course it's metal. If those were offered prepainted in solid colors as a kit with DIY decals I'd buy them all day long. It seems non builders just want 1/18 diecast models but what's the fun it that. So, to sum this up, the perfect kit is not out there (yet) but thanks to other enthusiasts there are at least some alternatives (Mirage, roadster) to expand the GT40 lineage. On that other board I have posted pictures of Fujumi, CMA, TV, IMC, MPC, Mini Exotics builds and having built the IMC MKI, MKII, MKIV and JCar (the worst) and the MPC (MKIV and JCar) all I can say is I wish all of these kits were better but at least we have something to start with. I have figured out the picture posting on ths site (I do not have a photo sharing account) but if anyone wants to share some of my builds from the Model Cars site be my guest.

I'm sorry to hear about the stroke, I did not know. Please take your time, especially with this lock down, I am definitely in no rush, just mainly trying to keep sane and busy!

Wow! I just checked out the contents to this bad boy! This is way easier to upgrade than a Fujimi!!! I think I will grab one of these in the near future!

The Union kit is a reboxed IMC mold so aside from the box art and perhaps slightly different decals it is the same old 60's tooling. Too bad they did not reissue the "Gulf" version which is harder to find (only made by IMC and not Testors) and can be made to somewhat resemble the 68/69 winner if you widen the rear fenders a lot more.

The old IMC kits came with engine selection and working bonnet and trunk? If so, it makes me want to build one more and more!
