I just found this thread. I may be able to help you on your quest for another Watson Roadster. Same with resin tires and decals. Long time and very good and close friends owned a company specializing in this era of Indycar Racing cars, making aftermarket items. Here is the Watson Decal sheet (still available) www.starfighter-decals.com/edsc-25010-195960-watso25010195960.htmlThere is also a complete makeover set for the old Monogram Kurtis Roadster. PM me if you are interested. It's mindblowing what these guys have, both in reference materials and what they made. BTW, the AMT Roadster kit is a bit off scale. Might be closer to 1/28.

Roger Ward for this one, I'd also like to do one of Foyt's later.

On a scale of 1-10, it's a solid 10 for sure. At least the engine hood is removable.

I got my Indycals decals so I can maybe finish this little nightmare. I took some glamour shots because next step will hide 90% of the work forever. I might just build one as a display chassis one day and really go to town on it, I just love the car. Here she is before I put the body over it:

Great job on a really tricky kit! Lots of test-fitting required, for sure! The AMT Watson was definitely WAAAYYY ahead of its time, detail-wise! Are you planning on any seat belts?

Brian Thanks Brian. It is a surprisingly difficult kit to build. But that's the fun, right. The worst is yet to come, now I have to try to fit the two body halves together with everything in between them.
Seat belts? Did they have seat belts in '63? They didn't in F1.

Yes, most pictures of 1962 cars show lap belt and shoulder harnesses. Remember that back then the shoulder straps were 2" wide, not 3" like they are now.

I checked a few pics, it's hard to tell on the roadsters, but I have a pic of Clark at Milwaukee and it clearly shows a shoulder harness, so I'd assume they all had them. It's going to have to wait, one thing I don't have is any 1/25th belt sets at all (it's not the scale I've normally been working in). Any suggestions where I could get some would be welcome. Thanks for the heads up my friend!

Paul, I checked a couple of books I have after my last post and I found clear pics of roadsters with shoulder straps as far back as 1957!

Great progress. I'm really glad that at least the engine hood comes off. A little peak is way better then none at all.
Your glamour pics really shows of the beauty of your build.

All done. Quite a bit of persuasion needed to get the body to co-operate. This is the best I could come up with.
The seam at the back is unavoidable, but the push bar does distract the eye a bit.
