Very good detailing ,could you tell what those small metal piece's with hole's either side of the race seat are for ? Thanks Nhoj in the UK Thank you for the kind words, as to the 'Blinders' - I saw these in a photo online attached to the horizontal head brace that a lot of Nascar Driver's are using now, I truly don't know what it is for but it looked really cool so I wanted to try replicate it. The image was of a test car so the only logical thing I can assume is that it was put in place to analyze the sight lines from a Driver's perspective on varied elevation Tracks - but that's just a guess.

Adrian,
Just had a chance to catch up on the list posts and builds. How I missed your build is just beyond me. I do remember your concern over the decals with a yellow that was slightly lighter in tone then the color paint you used. You cut out each decal and insides of each letter perfectly. And I really liked how you incorporated the sill decal as it adds just that little extra.
Your interior is simply amazing in scope and detail. I'd love to see a step by step build of the dash as well as the seat with all that PE on the sides. Honestly, I don't remember seeing that on today's cars, so I'll be paying extra special attention to tomorrow's race. (Nascar and IMSA just might be the only racing we're going to be watching for some time). Everywhere I looked in the interior had detail after detail. Is the steering wheel and shaft AM or your own detailing work?
Will the fabrication for the exhaust be totally behind the resin shell?
I do have one decaling question: you have a NAPA decal on the outside of the driver's compartment shell, which will be right up against the body. Are you planning on having the body removable? If not, why the decal there ?
Can't wait to see it cross the finish line, and then onto the AAR Cart Eagle.

I shall try to answer all your questions here in. Honestly the decal saga on this car so far is epic - I found these at a place called Patto's (Australia) who seemed to be the only one with this livery. The decals are to be honest a nightmare - the first set took a good hunk of time to cut out given the poor quality - so all that work was for not because I didn't think I would need to water down my Solvaset BUT apparently I was wrong - and they all shriveled up like prunes on me. I'm on my second set now trying to solve the problem but it's really not a great scene at the moment - I need to brainstorm some solutions tonight.
The interior of the cockpit is basically scratch build or DU parts except for the basic dash shape and steering wheel. The steering shaft and all the seat mods etc. are custom - I have a lot of fun working on cockpits with some tricks I've picked up through the years. The metal side braces near the top sides of the seat are scratch built - I have seen a whole bunch of different versions of these support braces in the modern Cup cars over the past few years and no 2 seem to be the same - although their function is. I saw something very similar to this on one of the 2019 cars so I have tried to recreate as best I coukl considering I was unable to find an actual photo of these in Joey's Car anywhere online - I am finding very difficult to find any decent interior shots of the 2019 or 2020 cars as yet. Some, but not many.
The exhaust assembly was a lot of fun to build I must say, and yes it will actually sit nicely inside the rear bumper so that only the tip extends slightly south of the bumper line. The position I had to change after another test fit last night that proved mega important!
The Napa decal on the side pods is something that you are now the first to spot in this forum On each model I build I always put one thing where I no that no one will ever see ... it's almost become a supersticious thing for me

Adrian, While I don't consider myself to be anything but a "Joe Average modeler", decaling is something that I really enjoy so much so, that I spend or spent an inordinate amount of time on learning, and watching a few expert modelers that I know (a few 1st hand like Paul Budzik). Paul's decaling is beyond perfect, was the 1st person to introduce me to not needing a Glosscoat and why. I've adapted his basic method as my own, then tweaked it to suit my needs.
I mention this because it might be a way for you to go with these decals you're having an issue with. Basically, I use Microsol under and then over the decal, give it time to do it job, then light damp and roll with a Qtip. Next up is Microset. Same procedure. Finally, it's Solvaset time, and I go light with it. A few coats is way better then one really heavy coat as the results could just ruin a super thin decal. By using the Micro system 1st, you avoid damaging the decal as Solvaset might do. All of these decal solutions are basically different strengths of White Vinegar. Just take a good sniff to know for sure.
For thick decals, especially from Asia including the older decals from the big 3, I opt for the Mr.Mark Sol & Mr.Mark Setter, as both are much stronger then even Solvaset.
Being a huge Roger Penske fan (who I 1st met in 1967 at Bridgehampton), I've followed every series his teams have run in. So Naturally Joey Lagano becomes one of my Nascar favorites. I'm surprised that he still resigned Brad Keselowski as he's never near the front. But I've become a huge fan of Ryan Blaney whose going to end up the top driver on the team. He's already leading in points after getting screwed by his crew chief for a really bad call for tires, and last week another yellow at the very end of the race killed his run for the win.
Being basically lazy, I just might "borrow" a lot of your interior detailing concepts when I build my 1st Nascar model.

Adrian, Just read this on the Racer site waiting for my wife as where heading off to the home to visit her mother. There's goes another modeling day for sure.
"NASCAR’s 2020 silly season has begun. On Friday morning, Team Penske took Ryan Blaney off the free agent board by announcing a contract extension for the 26-year-old. Blaney is the current NASCAR Cup Series points leader, and has been in contention to win each of the season’s first three races. Since entering the NASCAR national series picture in 2012, Blaney has been tied to Roger Penske, even when spending a stint with Wood Brothers Racing as he got his feet wet in the Cup Series. But Blaney will not be the only Penske driver to make a decision this year. Former champion Brad Keselowski’s current deal at Penske is set to expire after this season."
Great move by Mr. Penske.

There are still a lot of changes to be made and things to fix up ... a lot of work left .. but I couldn't resist doing the old 'set up with tires only' last night before I packed it in. I can't wait to see a gloss coat on this body .. the yellow is going to POP!

Adrian, Logano won this past Sunday, which makes him 2 wins in 4 races. Talk about being on a hot streak. Blaney's luck continues to head south which is a real bummer especially if you drive for Penske, who just gave him an extension on his contract.
